Wilde Ones

Dear Father,   Look for me not this morn in my bed chamber, for I am not there. I have left the Wildewoods to seek a more meaningful life. I suggest you not follow me, but if you must, seek me next season on the stage. I'll be there with a cadre of humans, tieflings, and other merrymakers with burning ideas ready to change the world! It's to Kalimbrum I go, where the world watches.   Aerison   PS: Tell mother I love her, and I'll send forwarding instructions for my allowance ASAP.
Situated at the edge of Korinthia, just beyond the Holy Ardian Empire, Kalimbrum is a jewel of culture. This has rightly caused it to attract a number of wealthy individuals out to proove how cultured they are, and what better way than to create it or, short of that, pay for it to be created? A large number of these patrons are young elvish lords, emmigrated from the Wildewoods, who collectively give the subculture, both the patrons and the artists themselves, the name of Wilde Ones. From their elvish homelands they brough great family riches going back centuries or more, and in their rebellious youth they're ready to cast it off.   The artists they promote tend create art about the vitality and briefness of life, which amuses these long lived elves greatly. So fiercely do these humans suckle every instant! It is something the young elves try to imitate in an attempt to stave off the stodgy ways of their elders.

Patrons

Elves formerly of Wildewood make up the main body of this collective. The movement was initialized by Paracella of House Nortreum, a veritible princess, and her compatriots. As word spread, and it spread quickly through the elven nation, more socialites joined them. Most of the elven houses have some representation at this point, much to their chagrin. There are also some human nobles trying to keep pace, although most lack the funds to compete, two prominent tieflings, and a mix of others jockeying for station.   Social status is gained partly through the number of works sponsered but also through the reception. No one cares about a patron who sponsors a thousand artists if none of them create anything of beauty, and spreading one's fortune too thin has been the downfall of more than one patron already. Truly great work, however, elevates not only the artist but also the patron.

Artists

Artists generally come from merchant or military families, although it's not unhheard of for them to hail from more agrarian families. They represent a large variety of mediums from painters to scultors, from playwright to musicians and composers. There is a huge variety among the racial make-up as members come from throughout the kingdom and beyond, including a large number of Empire immigrants.

Artists of Note

Edmund Pacey. Human playwright and poet. From a rather common, Korinthian background. Has been lent on comission to the. king twice to write historical plays regarding High King Roderick I's great achievements. Better known for his comedy-of-errors plays, often involving elves making humans look foolish.   Terriwell Featherfeet. Halfing sculptor known for evoking texture and natural forms.   Ehrvam Dekkori. Human poet, writer, painter and former citizen of the Empire. Ehrvam is in high demand for his fresco and portraiture skills. He oversaw the fresco painting in the Temple of Kalimbra.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Beauty comes in a multitude of forms and should be sought out. Beauty is found through and life is beauty.

Gender Ideals

Kalimbrum is generally rather liberal with notions around gender, and the Wilde Ones even moreso. Roles and assignments can both be rather fluid.

The Empire Connection

Unbeknownst to most of the patrons, many of the artists are creating anti-Empire works and having them distributed throughout the Empire after their premieres. Wih subtle alusions and jabs, they simply pass under the noses of the elvish dilettantes and on their way to offend the Emperor should he ever get wind of them. Further, the elves have been particularily captivated by the Empire immigrants in Kalimbrum, and have sponsored their works heavily. The artists then use those funds to have their families smuggled out of the Empire and join them safely in Korinthia.
