Tia Aeternum

Tia’s Birth and Death of an Era

The current King of Solace was King Edward de Chateau IV. He overthrew the late King Rogrick nearly twenty years ago. While the late King was off in an extended war with Idica, Edward maneuvered the Solace Court Nobility into betraying the royal family. Setting an ambush, the King and the Royal family were killed upon their return. Edward has ruled with an Iron fist ever since. The truth is when King Edward de Chateau IV stage his coup, he established an Autocracy. Solace was now ruled by a hereditary ruler who wielded absolute power. In his initial twenty year rain, King Edward worked tirelessly to establish a well-supported and well-developed caste system that stood as the only authority in an otherwise anarchic society. He worked towards a dynastic intention of ruling Solace forever. Many of the outcomes of this had not been felt in Devil's Backbone; however, the damage is Solace was painfully apparent. The night of the coup, Edwards ambushed King Rogrick on the road murdering him and the entire royal family, or so it was thought. Rogrick had a handmaiden swap her two-year-old daughter with his daughter and flee during the ambush's confusion. As Tia’s life begin we see it replay itself full circle over and over again throughout her life. People around her meet tragedy while she survives. It’s doesn’t take an educated person to begin to draw parallels between her behavior and the occurrences that happened in her life. In fact in a way it would be strange if they didn’t exist.

Tia Meets Telum

Ricker recruited, Telum to track Jake and Tia who had gone missing in the North Forest. Following the trial, he found it led to a camp of Hobgoblins. They had managed to subdue Tia and Jake who had been placed in cages. Trying to sneak to the camp, Telum's companion Mon's Montis alerted them by tripping over a giant tree. Telum and Mons managed to fight off the hobgoblins; however, before retreating one of them shot an arrow into Jakes's chest. Telum chose to heal his companion Mons who was also close to death after the battle. The decision left no means to heal Jake, and he died in Tia’s arms. Tia was in shock the first night, saying nothing. Waking the next morning after camping for the night, she insisted on returning to the town alone, her legendary reckless nature showing. Telum tried to convince Tia to travel with the group but was unsuccessful. Frustrated he ordered Mon's Montis to try and follow as she stalked off. However, Mons Montis lost track of her.   The two men returned to the town, discussing the results of the task with Ricker. Ricker was angry that they had let her leave. After a heated discussion with Telum, Telum again agreed to head back out to look for Tia. This time he brought Elessar and Mon’s Montis with him. As they searched the woods, they happened upon a human man in clad armor who was speaking angrily with a hobgoblin. It wasn’t known until much later that this man was known as Unknown, one of the four generals of the Black Company.   As the two watched, the man turned and blinked out of existence. Moments later, a cloaked figure hopped the fortifications of the camp and stabbed the Hobgoblin with a dagger. With the camp bursting into chaos Telum rushed in. During the battle, he discovered the cloaked figure was in fact, Tia Aeternum the girl he had been sent to rescue. Tia's actions of her had resulted in Elessar nearly dying. After the battle ended, Telum pressed Tia to take responsibility for her actions. From the very beginning of their relationship, we see him already trying to force his discipline and expectations upon her. The two nearly came to blows over the encounter. Telum’s anger at her reckless actions and Tia’s fury at being questioned. The two returned to Devil’s Backbone in heated silence neither willing to give on their stance.

Ricker Tests the Adventurers

I've always pondered on this next part. To me, it would seem that Ricker was testing the measure of the men that had walked through his tavern. Assessing situations seemed to be in his very nature. Anyway back in the town, the group parted ways. Telum showed Ricker a map they had found and asked for suggestions on the next steps. Ricker said he recognized one of the locations as an old abandoned mine west of Devil's Backbone Mine in the North Forest. He suggested Telum gather Mons Montis, Elessar and try to convince Tia to join, then explore the caves. After a reluctant debate Telum agreed. With effort, he formed the party and headed to the Cave. Inside it, the group encountered two Ogres who had taken up residence. After slaying both, they set to return to the Devil's Backbone. However, As they left something pulled at their minds leading them to a second path inside the cave. Ever one for adventure, Tia Aeternum decided to explore it. Telum and the rest of the group joined her as they were concerned it would be unsafe alone.   The second path led to an old structure covered in a script written in Celestial and a stairway that spanned deep into the depths of the mountain. Unable to read the writing the group decided to continue. After a couple of hours descending the steps into the mountain, they found a large cavern with a stone road leading to a massive structure. Feeling tired, they decided to return to the cave entrance to rest. The next morning they again retraced their steps heading back into the mountain. As they approached the massive gothic structure their sense of unease grew. Outside the door, a being began to taunt the group offering deals. With trepidation, they entered the structure which revealed a Babau. A fight ensued and, the group managed to slay the Demon. Telum retrieved and gave Elessar a Demon Claw as a trophy. The blood of the demon fell onto Elessar's skin burning and burrowing into his palm leaving a tiny mark on his wrist. A whisper echoed throughout the structure, goading the group deeper into the structure. - As a side note I believe this to be the origin of Elessar's wand.   Deciding not to enter the large door, the group headed back to Devil's Backbone. Elessar's wrist had begun sprouting something sharp and pointy from the small black dot left behind from the Babau blood. By the time they reached the town, the thing had grown substantially. Unsure if what was happening was life-threatening, the group decided it needed to be removed; however, all attempts only seemed to make it worse. Left with no other options and running out of time, they chose to seek Pollina out on the road to Pernith. Departing with Tia, They left town, and after being ambushed by bandits, the group succeeded in finding Pollina.   Pollina removed the bone that had grown to twelve inches long. Chastising Telum and Mons Montis, one for his erratic behavior and the other for the ignorance of his destiny, she restored the tired, broken group before returning to Devil's Backbone. Telum departed the party in search of Tia. This is where you see Telum's sense of duty catapulting him onto a path he didn't fully understand yet

Telum and Tia Assault a Bandit Camp

Telum found Tia within Pernith. Using a message she had taken off the body of a dead archer Tia Aeternum had located a camp within the heart of the Pernith forest that was being fortified, and she intended to remove the blight from the land. This is the first time in history we see Tia's reckless behavior involving another individual directly. Telum urged her to rethink her plan however she refused, so he joined her in the assault. The two struck like death itself, leaving no one at the camp alive. After the battle, Tia and Telum took horses from their slain foes and headed back to Devil's Backbone. Upon arriving, Tia spoke with Ricker, and the two had a disagreement and Tia left leaving Telum behind.   From what I can tell the assault on the bandit camp was the first time Telum began to suspect the possibility that the Black Company could be real. Upon returning to Devil's backbone, Telum followed up with Ricker, learning that the camp they had attacked was part of the secret organization. Ricker explained that the Black Company was a syndicate that was suspected to be involved in most of the major disasters and political strife within the land. Where the Black Company showed up, death and destruction followed, and Tia had just kicked a massive hornet's nest openly. Concerned for Tia and the city itself, Ricker eluded to Telum that Tia must be protected at all costs but gave little reason why it was so important. I would say at this point Telum was slowly starting to piece together who Tia was. Telum returned to Tia's estate once again this time swearing allegiance and making an Oath to protect her. With reluctance, Tia accepted Telum. Without this happening the course of History may not have turned out the way it did.

Tia Travels With Rahk

I think Rahk, was truly one of Tia’s only friends in the world at this stage in her life. You have to remember, Tia had been swept away, hidden, and trained for a single purpose her entire life. Her life was full of suspicion and looming threats. She had always needed to be on her guard. When Rahk first met Tia, she had just lifted a curse on him before heading into the forest alone as she often did. Rahk followed and witnessed her execute a wraith with quiet efficiency. The two traveled for a time, Rahk seeing her for her, their personalities complementing each other well. Rahk not prying into her past or controlling her motives. Both comfortable in the long silences as they explored the wilderness. I think when Tia challenged a young red dragon, Rahk became truly curious about her. Her seemingly defiant nature mirrored his own. What sealed their friendship was Tia’s gentle earnest approach to his people in Salleek , his home village. Most were unwelcome, yet Tia seemed almost too long to be there. I think her sacrifice was partly born out of her desire to protect what she had found in that village. A simple life that felt like family to her.

Tia Tames Tiamet

Tia was just as comfortable having her nose in a book as she was out alone in the forest. I think she spent time reading and then her natural curiosity and her quiet stubbornness demanded that she try to apply that what she learned. I found a book that she had in her possession. It explained how in theory, if one found a Girallon young enough it could be raised to be understand complex concepts. During one of her many ventures into the forest she stumbled upon a Baby Girallon whose parents had recently been killed. Managing to save the baby she brought it back. There are many documented moments that capture Tia laughing and teaching Tiamet her little friend Girallon. After her disappearance, many legends of the white devil of the southern forest begin showing up. I believe these have been born from Tia’s pet Girallon Tiamat doing what she had always hoped he would become.

Tia's Trip to Salleek

I spoke with Carrac, a Village Elder of Salleek, on Tia's first trip there. Rahk had led her to the village, which sits nestled to the north past some tight switchbacks. On the way, they had run into a Red Dragon, which spoke the truth about Tia's behavior that she was not yet ready to accept. During this time, I think Tia was still holding tightly to her childish belief that she could outrun her destiny and live a normal, carefree life. Carrac said Tia came to her with a heavy worry. Her illusion of independence and her heavily guarded secret had been shattered. She spent a week free within the Salleek village, spending most of her time in quiet conversation with Carrac or playing with the Aarakorca warriors. It was the first time they had welcomed an outsider into their village. I believe Tia's heart longed to stay, but she knew that her time was short. Shortly after this moment, she announced her true self to the world.

Tia and Salleek Hunting Grounds

During a visit to Sallek, Rakaw, the Village War Leader, came to Rahk and Carrac with concerns that some of their hunters had gone missing. Initially, he refused to speak of his concerns as Tia was there. Rakaw, believed Tia's lack of discipline and reckless behavior would cause problems for the Salleek people. In this case, Rakaw proved his beliefs about her recklessness to be true. Hearing and seeing the concerns of Rakaw, Rahk and Tia went to the hunting grounds where they found and saved three Aarakorca hunters from two massive trolls. Rahk and Tia agreed to split up, she would follow him on foot back to the town while he flew ahead with the injured. As soon as Rahk departed Tia turned heading deeper into the hunting grounds. Rahk found her two days later curled up in a ball hidden in a small cave. She had single handily slew ten more Trolls nearly killing herself in the process. It is important to understand, Tia's commitment to protecting those she cared about was unparalleled, I think it was because of the weight of guilt she carried with her. Losing her family and those around her, constantly dying as she grew up made her feel helpless. As she got older, I think she believed through sheer force of will that she could protect people. Looking back now it should be no surprise her life ended the way she lived it.

Tia and Telum Spar In the Back of the Estate

Tia and Telum's initial relationship was one of rocky respect. Their personalities polar opposites, Telum stanch in his sense of duty and obligation, Tia in her youthful hopes to avoid responsibilities, and brazen lack of concern for her own life. The two butted heads often. I found a soldier who was stationed at the Palace Estate, he told me that the turning point for them happened naturally, as so many other things did in the back of the estate. I later had the opportunity to speak with Telum on the topic. He remembered it fondly. The two had begun sparing in the back of the estate, where they both could find common ground, Tia's discipline and commitment to her form similar to Telum's discipline and commitment to his entire life. The two sparred trading blows, locking blades. With each strike, they tested each other's mettle on and off the battlefield. The two were able to use the sparring session as a means to find common ground and purpose. I think this is where Telum began looking truly looking at his charge like a daughter of sorts. After Tia's disappearance, Telum assumed the mantle of responsibility for the entire empire, living within the quarters. It was not a rare occurrence to see him continuing to train in the same spot where the two fought in the back of the estate.

Tia and the Memorial To The Fallen

Tia spent a large portion of her time, visiting and tending to the memorial. If you go there today, you can still see the names that were carved by her hands on the stones display. She would often be seen sitting in front of various statues, talking to the walls in quiet conversation. I think this was how Tia dealt with the guilt of those who died for her. It helped her stay connected and grounded in the importance of her cause. I also think this was where most of the people she cared about in her life had ended up. Her name was placed on the lists next to those she cared for in the monument after she disappeared. To our relief that act was found to be not necessary though during the time it was a sorrowful sight to see.

Tia Becomes Aarakocra

Everyone knows Tia's fierce love and protection towards the village of Salleek and the Aarakocra people. I believe it is because Salleek was the closest thing Tia found that resembled the life she wished she could have. The Aarakocra of Salleek are beautiful people, I've spent many days there with them and truly can understand why our lady loved them so much. They pass down stories from generation to generation through spoken ritual, with a precision that is rarely found. Below is the written story of the night Tia was accepted as a tribe member as told by them.   Returning from the great battle where Rahk, Tia, Caligo, and Elessar held off the wave of undead that Elessar had unleashed. Rahk led Tia into the pavilion, bringing her before Rakaw and Carrac. He gently pushed her down by her shoulder as he knelt reverently before the two elders himself.   "Honored elders. I come before you once again with my friend, and ally Tia Aeternum, Queen of Solace, and protector of the realm. I would like to formally request that this one be made an honored member of the people of Salleek, and recognized as a friend to Aarakocra across the land." (Aarakocra) May she be honored as one of us, born again as one of the people, joined in spirit, mind, and body in this life and the next, he spoke with his head bowed.   Tia looked at Rahk for a moment then saw Carracs gentle eyes. Dropping down onto her knees, she listened quietly.   Rakaw looked at Tia, speaking with a firm voice, "Would you honor the people as you have done in protection of this village? Will you hold its people as your own and continue to provide them protection? Would you join our tribe as one of us, an honored member of the people of Salleek and upheld by Aarakocra across the realms?" As Rakaw questioned Tia Rahk lifted from the ground and moved to stand between the elders turning to face Tia, "Before you answer, there are two conditions. First, you must accept the honor in mind AND body. You will need to receive a mark of the people forever in your flesh, in the form of a tattoo. Second, you must swear to always protect the people whenever and wherever you can to the best of your abilities. You will be inked this day, and we will hold the ceremony tonight to recognize you as one of us in front of the entire village. A feast will be held to commemorate the occasion. The decision is yours, my friend."   Tia held the gaze of everyone in front of her for a moment, then her face hardened with the resolve of her commitment. Much like when she committed to a course of action in battle. With respect, dignity, and gratitude, she nodded her acceptance speaking a single phrase in Aarakorca" Until the ancestors take me to the final hunt,"   Rahk swelled with pride at Tia's words, his eyes welling up at the honor she showed to his people, and the love he held for her grew even stronger. "Then we will hold the ceremony this evening." Stepping forward and offering her a hand up, enveloping her in a hug with arms and wings, "You have brought great honor to me and my people. I will never forget this moment my friend....my queen." Rakaw and Carrac looked on proudly at the two pleased with Rahk's decisions and the way he honored Salleek’s traditions even as he lived outside the village. Rahk released her and smiled at the elders leading Tia out of the pavilion.   Later that night, the entire village bustled with happy energy. Food was cooked, and people laughed and told stories. The village square had been set up for a celebration, tables and chairs arrayed around the main square and a huge bonfire prepared to warm and light the ceremony planned for the evening. Rahk led Tia to the tattooist's hut and explained that she could choose her mark but must display it this evening during the ceremony. He told her that the phrase she used in the elders' pavilion will fit perfectly when the time came for her to answer the same question he asked inside the hut, but this time in front of the village during the ceremony.   Tia nodded to Rahk, thanking him, then turned and looked through the various symbols in the hut. Pushing them all aside, she smiled and then explained what she wanted and where before sitting down and letting the Aarakorca shaman get to work.   As night fell on Salleek , the village gathered in the square, young and old full of anticipation of what was to come. Rahk emerged from the Elders pavilion with Rakaw and Carrac behind him and addressed the people. Tia waited inside the building for Rahk to begin before emerging. "My people!" Rahk begun in a loud voice "We are here tonight to celebrate a great victory! We have pushed back a foe that threatened the land we love. An unnatural perversion of life that sought to poison all it touched. But this victory is not that of the people alone. We were aided by friends from many lands, brought together by a common cause.” He looked at Caligo and Elessar as he spoke. "It is time for Salleek to recognize the surrounding lands and the people who live there. My friend, Tia Aeternum seeks to unite the land for the good of all peoples. She has shown that Salleek and the Aarakocra are her allies. That she would risk her own life to defend us and our home. For that, we should honor her and welcome her as one of us! He gestures behind him as Tia emerged from the Elder's Pavillon, walking purposefully towards Rahk, Rakaw, and Carrac. She looked over the beautiful village and people inspired by the strength and dignity that they had. She wore an Aarakocra hunter's vest adorned with feathers and strips of colored cloth, that exposed her entire back There, for all the village to see, was a tattoo of her own design, made to honor the people of Salleek and the time and adventure she has shared with them.
Rahk filled with pride at the sight of her commitment and honored by her choice of he spoke up again in a loud voice using the Aarakorca tongue, "Tia. Will you honor the people always, will you devote body and mind to the cause of the people, and swear to uphold our traditions?” Finishing, he repeated the words this time in common for his friends.   Tia cast her gaze out at the people, her people, standing and watching her. Much like before, her face showed the fierce resolve of her promise. With respect, dignity, and gratitude, she nodded her acceptance, speaking a single phrase in Aarakorca" Until the ancestors take me to the final hunt"   Rahk, Rakaw, Carrac, and two other village elders moved forward, surrounding Tia, and enveloping her in an embrace of the people. Wings surrounding their newest member as they chanted an ancient prayer. Tia's tattoo begun to glow, spectral wings extending from her back, returning the embrace and solidifying the moment with ancestral approval. The village cheered. The bonfire was lit as the celebration begun in earnest.   Tia joined the village dancing. She twirled and twirled around the center of the town to the beat of the night. Her braided hair intertwined with Aarakorca feathers spinning out from her. As she turned her, everyone got glimpses of her fully exposed back displaying the magnificently detailed tattoo that covered her skin. A sense of hope and belief settled on the entire village. For just this one night, if nothing else, everything fit perfectly as the people of Salleek and Aeternum celebrated life and unity.

Tia steps from the shadows

Ricker moved back to Solace, hiding Tia in plain sight, living within Solace, teaching the girl everything he knew while keeping a watchful eye on her. When she was 18, the Black Company once again found her, and they had to relocate this time to Devil's Backbone. Not long after moving there, we find the confrontation between Telum, Tia and the Black Company's resurgence around Pernith. After assault their camp little could be done to keep her from hiding. I believe she was becoming restless beginning to mature into who she would become, but not yet ready to accept the responsibility. It is said the day she stepped from the shadows we finally see her beginning to wear that mantle of responsibility without discomfort.   Maby remember Tia's words well the day she assumed leadership. She stood tall this defiant young woman declaring to a small band of unproven heroes "I've sought long to avoid this moment and will not judge any of you for your decisions to come. From this point forth, I will be devoting all of my attention to correcting past sins. My family used to say, "Through service, ascendance. Through dedication, transcendence." Tragedy follows my story. However, if you stand with Ricker and me, I can promise that we will change this land forever.” After this speech Tia led Aeternum to its first victory and people begin to migrate to Devil's Backbone as word spread. It was either masterful planning or pure luck that Idica and Solace went to war shortly after. This occurrence, I believe, gave the rebellion time to establish itself without having to face the full fury of the Solace kingdom. Year's later it would be learned that much greater forces had begun to play there hands.

Tia challenges the Kingdom

A year after growing in size and putting pressure on Solace, Tia enacted a challenge to the throne her attempt to quash a civil war and gain legitimacy taking steps towards reestablishing Aeternum. She issued a missive to anyone in the realm that would dare challenge her authority, however everyone by this time knew it was directed at Edwards himself. He had been losing popularity drastically as people switched to support Aeternum’s movement. The move was masterful by The crown, it left little wiggle room for Edwards to avoid the confrontation without suffering major repercussions.   Tia Aeternum, Daughter of King Rogrick Aeternum, and one true legitimate heir to the Aeternum Empire hereby decrees rightful ascension to the crown and it's most sacred authority. Furthermore, she hereby declares war on any who oppose her rightful authority and illegitimately sit upon the throne. She invokes the ancient Aeternum right of ritual combat and challenges any who desire the right to lead. Three months from this day, any and all challengers may present themselves to participate and try to lay claim to her rightful authority in Devils Backbone. The contest will be witnessed and open to all. The winner of this challenge will by the right be awarded true legitimacy of the kingdom.

Calm Before The Storm

After the proclamation made by Tia, Devil's Backbone swelled in population. People from all over the country, tired of false promises and repression of King Edwards, abandoned their homes in search of the opportunity and promise that Aeternum represented. The once run down city grew quickly doing everything it could to establish the infrastructure required to support such a large population. Meanwhile the Hero's of Aeternum continued change the course of history. During this period of time I have been able to locate and piece together various texts that when considered together suggest that Elessar one of Aeternum's earliest heroes was responsible for breaking the the first of the remaining five seal of Bel. I point this out not to be judge or jury for their actions but to demonstrate the extent of impact that these individuals had upon shaping the world we live in today.

The day Tia disappeared

The day of the Tia's challenge, I was lucky enough to be present. It is one of the greatest memories of my life.   "To conquer this continent and as a means to wrest victory from the same hostile forces with which we have so struggled from the time of our great rebirth I have plunged this country into primaeval conditions. These conditions are incompatible with the future our great nation strives towards. For such primitive conditions can but lead to a primitive culture. As our country grows, its people to must begin to flourish. For those who have success in so many lines, will soon to desire to garner greater possessions of mind and spirit, realizing that a life of purely material gain whether for a nation or an individual, is of value only as a foundation. As we move toward destiny, each of you, whom are leaders of thought and action must grope your way forward to our new way of life, realizing, that our new world can only be fully developed by valuing the treasures of the past. For only through the melding of old and ingenuity, can we develop a nation that is fruitful and productive for ages to come. Each of you are here because, I believe you understand that there is little use for those beings whose tepid soul knows nothing of great and generous action, of the high pride, the stern belief, the lofty enthusiasm, of the men who quell the storm and ride thunder. For upon our great success of this day we will finally usher in an ordinary every day quality of life that holds in the highest regards, the will and power to work hard, fight at need, and to have earned prosperity. I am honored to bring forth each of whom sits with me in confidence this day, as my champions of Aeternum. Today we will show the true might of our collective commitment, standing firm against the tyranny that shall no longer be part of our great nations history!!!!"   Seeing Tia speak with such passion is a moment I will never forget, as she spoke the energy around her literally crackled. The moment she thrust her sword into the table and walked out I was at a loss for words. thinking back to it now I realize I was also happy that I had choose to be on her side. It never ceased to amaze me how such a slender young woman was able to make you feel like ant underneath a massive boot.   Shortly after, Aeternum's champions fought within the arena, It is one of the most wildly documented events in all of Aeternum history. The ripples from that single moment are still felt today. The energy and emotion is impossible to articulate; needless to say it was life changing. I often wander if Tia had any inclination of the events she had set in motion. I have been able to locate small letters, and documents that captured bits of Tia's actions the days preceeding her disappearance. Through these I believe it only a small leap to conclude that she did indeed understand the course she was on. In one journal I found, a soldier had documented her meeting with Ricker in the Arena. In his letter he describes a tenderness that was rarely displayed by Tia, saying it was much like when a person is saying goodbye to a loved one. Another image captured Tia sitting in front of the momentum as she often did. However, every time I look at the sketch something about it imparts a sense of quiet contemplation and acceptance. Almost like a peace had come over her. Then of course there are the moments inside the arena that have been written and describe by the Heroes of Aeternum. I am not saying that Tia somehow knew what the outcome of the day would be. No I think it was more that she had figure out how to make peace with her roll in history. I remember the look on her face when Unknown showed up, the power she exuded wings erupting from her Aarokorca Tattoo, the quiet contentedness in sacrificing herself to save her friends. When she rose into the air disappearing leaving only her sword Aeternum and her Locket behind I'll admit I lost hope. Everything unraveled so quickly. War erupted, death and chaos reigned down. However, now looking back I believe she knew that the outcome had been sealed. The fury of her champions and the might of the movement she had created swept across the country like a wildfire.

Tia and Battle of The Balor

The war to reestablish Aeternum and remove King Edwards was grueling. It was a mission that was fueled by passion and hurt. The first year was worse than imaginable. The first month was even more frightening. If it had not been for the brave men and women of Devil’s Backbone and the decisive action of the Heroes, the rebellion that Tia had started would have ended those first few days. I remember seeing the armies of Solace pouring in from all directions. The sky glowed from the burning city. I later learned that we were not overwhelmed that first night because Varis, the Herald of Time, had spotted the encroaching army and warned Lional and Grom. This one act gave the city time to close its inner walls. Thankfully most of the people were in the arena, watching the event allowing them to be ushered to safety. After that first night, the next month was a waking nightmare filled with grit and death. I have purposefully chosen to leave out further details as many historical accounts are written on these events.   After the initial clashes the first few weeks, Solace's Armies had entrenched themselves around the city content to starve Aeternum. I remember how bleak things looked, and the mixture of relief and disbelief the day Breven d’Deneith's banner crested the hills to the west. Idica's force true to their word routed a tired Solace Army in short order. After the Capital had been liberated, the army's morale and ranks swelled. Under the leadership of Telum and the guidance of Breven. Aeternum maneuvered their forces brilliantly. I think during this time, no one had the time to stop and really process the moments prior to and during the war. Rather it was a time of acting and reacting, of making hard choices and living with sacrifices. Many people crossed lines they never thought they would and pushed themselves more than what they thought was possible. It's no wonder that when the flames of war finally died down in the country the people were exhausted. Many of the significant figures who led Aeternum to success, disbanded needing time to reconcile their actions during the war and the things they lost. Some returned to Devil's Backbone to begin rebuilding while others, left entirely. I don't blame any for their decisions. Each of us needed time to adjust in our own way.   It took over three years of constant focus and attention to slowly put the country back together. Little by little people replaced what was lost or figured out how to start over. Devil’s backbone had actually flourished after the initial attack on the city those who couldn’t fight directly in the war spent the time during the war and after building, expanding, and changing the city to accommodate the influx of refugees. The entire time Telum and Lional held the country together. Their ability to do so was a testament to the renown they had gained during the war. Under normal circumstances, nobles have quickly begun vying for the control of the throne. However, while those two led no one attempted. Perhaps it’s because people were still mourning those they lost. The monument to the fallen had expanded beyond what anyone ever had hoped it would. A constant reminder of the sacrifices people had to make to right the sin that occurred thirty-plus years ago when King Rogrick died.   For a short period of time, the Kingdom seemed to move into a relative rhythm. People built, businesses were established, Rin continued to experiment. If only we had known at that time that the relative peace was just a precursor, the calm before the storm. During this time Telum finally realized the hurt of losing his ward could no longer be buried deep inside him. Tia’s disappearance, the monotony of paperwork, and the inability to effect change the way he had accomplished it on the battlefield all just, sort of compounded until he lost sight of his own purpose. When he left the kingdom, his loss was felt almost immediately. The man had become one of the remaining pillars that the kingdom stood upon. I don’t fault him though, he had always been a soldier, and his entire life had been bred for war, not politics. Shortly after the new champions began appearing in the histories. I think they were unknowingly being gathered in the capital in preparation for the events to follow. Each journeyed forward drawn by their own purpose but unquestionably bound in a common goal not yet understood.   Like most who get pulled into destiny, it started out simply a stalwart group of adventures with big hearts and a sense of curiosity. The gentle maneuvering of Bel and others we know of today were not yet known. As I ponder this it is with mixed emotions as without his influence, it is likely Tia would not have been able to find her way back. Lyra, Astrid, Oliver, Vin, and Tide were the first to continue breaking the seals. The scenario in which this happened has been documented elsewhere. They were the ones who begin to uncover the heritage and the war that we were truly fighting. After they broke the fourth of five seals, the barrier surrounding our world was weakened to the point that Tia had the smallest glimmer of hope to return. Not long after this seal was broken, our heroes were pointed towards a cult that had been stirring up problems by praying on the meek in spirit. Through their efforts, they uncovered a plot that was much more nefarious. Garnering support from Aeternum an assault was led to uproot this evil once and for all. The battle itself was that of nightmares. Humanities' darkest tendencies on full display. The cult managed to call forth a Balor. Even though Aeternum forces had fought so hard they were on the brink of losing too many. That’s when she appeared much as she disappeared so long ago. Spectral wings on full display her two famed swords in hand. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I would have said it was nothing more than a hoax, however, we all know now Tia had been desperately trying to come home.   Tia exploded through the Balor with a righteous fury that only a few could carry. However, her power hadn't been fully reconnected and she was dragged back to the world from which she came. Her appearance that day reignited hope for many of our heroes.

Tia, Vin and the Rescue of Haliax (Unknown)

After Tia returned, she immediately went back to the purpose that had constantly driven her. Looking back at it now, it's fairly clear that returning to our world brought a piece of her back in alignment. However, I believe it also caused her a sense of frustration and guilt. While Tia was gone, she continued to draw people to her trying to save those she could but still losing those she cared about. Being spread across worlds put her in a position of being unable to save everyone, so she began trying to pull people into our world.   One of the first places she traveled was to a world called Axium, a harsh world, full of fire and constant battle. The strong prey on the weak with little moral consideration. Some things are better left unknown, and her first time in this world I believe, is one of those. What I can tell you is she was branded with two marks on her flesh while there. Escaping the world nearly broke her as it required her to leave something behind that she never thought she could have but desperately wanted. In the end, however, when she was faced with the choice of continuing her journey home and losing Haliax she chose her duty.   When the seals broke Tia's ability to walk the worlds became like breathing to her. She gathered Vin Larosa and Kayzan Sol and returned to Axium looking for what she had left. While there, the three managed to save a group of people which Kayzan Sol returned home with.   After he left, Vin and Tia proceeded to the city that she had destroyed so long ago. What they found was more of the same. The population hadn't changed even though time had moved forward nearly a hundred years. Tia and Vin were drugged and thrown into an arena, their blood meant to be for glory and sport. The mistake that this City made, however was to introduce the one Tia had come to save as the champion to fight them.   When Tia saw this, a small part of the darkness she held within her escaped. The full extent of the events that happened that day is of little importance; what is important is understanding the wraith and fury Tia released upon the population, letting them truly understand what it meant to fight for their survival. Massive fire elementals had spent eons being repelled from the city. Tia destroyed these wards with little regard for the consequences for the population.   When they returned, it was later learned that Haliax, the one she saved, was the same one who caused her much tragedy in her life. In our world, he was known only as Unknown, a General of the Black Company. They somehow became more during the isolation of the two behind the barrier. However, this is not the intent of this entry, as I have already recorded this information elsewhere.   Suffice it to say, when they returned a portion of her darkness that Vin Larosa witnessed caused him to ponder if her level of destruction was warranted. That same night Tia stood on the balcony of her room, staring out over her kingdom. I believe she was replaying the recent events repeatedly, examining her emotions and the decisions made. Whether it was worry over Ricker's furry when they had stumbled in or her own darkness, we don't know. I do know, however, that Vin’s gentle judgment of her actions left yet another deep mark on her, although it couldn't be seen.   In the end, Tia was beginning to wrestle with knowing that, somewhere deep within her, her ancestors' fury and wraith were tightly locked away. She had released that upon Axium as retribution for the years of torture and anguish they had caused to so many she had witnessed. She also knew if pushed, she would do it again, and again, and again. That singular truth made her wonder if she had become a monster also.

Celestial's Hunt Tia

Tia turns, connecting eyes with Rob and Donovan. She looked tired, broken, and yet resolute. ” I’m sorry, I thought there would be more time.” She states simply as she folds the paper, handing it to Rob.”Give this and my sword to Lyra. Then, free Thulma’Din and revitalize it. Muster whatever supporters you can, and destroy the black company generals. It’s the only way to bring down the barrier.”Finishing her commands, she steps around the fallen beast and walks slowly towards the north, Nomokin appearing in her hand. The blade flickered unsteadily, its power also unstable. She hadn't had enough time to mend it after the last battle....There just hadn’t been time. In front of her, a man with brilliant wings that stretched outward appeared through the trees fifty feet away. Power radiated from his body. Tia stopped moving, setting her feet and narrowing her eyes. The air around the jungle grew still once more; this time, however, the quiet was deafening as the two weighed each other. Then Tia exploded forward, more violently and furious than Donovan or Rob had known was possible. Nomokin slammed into the Angels blade, and the two clashed, catapulting into the air. Sparks flew as the blades deflected each other strikes. The two powerhouses struck with unmatched skill as they began their dance with death. As the battle intensified, the air around them crackled. Then the sky ripped, and both individuals simply disappeared.

Naomi, Tia and the First Shrouded Angels

In the face of the Shrouded Angel's assault, Tia Aeternum's motives became abundantly clear. Her self-sacrificing nature drove her to do whatever it took to buy her companions enough time to mature into the heroes they were destined to become. It was a moment of revelation, where I truly believe that Tia understood the weight of her actions.   With each use of her power, Tia took one more step towards being caught and trapped by the ancient Celestial and Demon races. It was a dangerous gamble, a reckless dance on the precipice of both light and darkness. Yet, her unwavering determination and her own formidable power continued to shine through.   As I reflect upon this event, I can't help but draw my own conclusions. It was in these moments that Naomi and Donovan showed glimpses of the power and achievements they would eventually accomplish. Tia's sacrifice bought them the precious time they needed to grow, to embrace their destinies and realize their true potential.   But Tia's motives extended beyond mere protection. She sought to ignite the fire within her companions, to push them towards their own greatness. It was a profound realization for me, witnessing how her sacrifice was not just about shielding them from harm, but about instilling within them the belief that they were capable of achieving extraordinary feats.   And so, as Tia stood defiantly beckoning the Shrouded Angels that had been sent to assassinate Nilwäith Rosewarden , turning their attention back towards herself, I couldn't help but admire her reckless nature. With each use of her power, she drew the celestial and demonic forces closer, risking everything for the sake of her companions and her own survival.   In these moments of introspection, I believe that Tia's true essence revealed itself. Her indomitable will, her self-sacrificing motives, and her unyielding determination all blended together into a formidable force. She became an active participant in shaping the events that unfolded, her every action guided by a fervent desire to protect and empower those she cared for.   As the battle raged on, Tia's essence permeated the air, a tangible force that fueled the courage and determination of her companions. In my mind, I can't help but think that she understood the risks involved, the danger that lurked in her path. Yet, she pressed forward, embracing the light and the darkness, hoping to emerge victorious against the ancient forces that sought to capture her.   In the pages of Tia Aeternum's biography, I paint a vivid picture of this event, highlighting the moments when her sacrifice and the birth of heroes intersected. It is a tale of courage, selflessness, and the unmistakable imprint of Tia's reckless nature. Her actions became a catalyst for Naomi and Donovan, propelling them towards their destinies, while Tia herself became enmeshed in a dangerous dance, risking everything to defy the ancient forces that sought to claim her.

Tia, Molork, Dominicus, and the Fall of Idica

In the heart of the once-grand city of Idica, where spires once touched the sky and laughter filled the streets, darkness descended like a shroud. The Malachorians, ancient beings of malevolence, emerged from the depths of the void, their arrival marking the beginning of the end for the city and its people.   For Tia Aeternum, Queen of Idica, the fall of her beloved city was a bitter pill to swallow. Raised amidst its bustling streets and towering architecture, Idica was more than just a city to her—it was home. And now, as she stood amidst the chaos and carnage, she knew that home was slipping away, torn apart by forces beyond her control. But Tia was not one to succumb to despair, not while there was still a glimmer of hope to be found. Alongside her most trusted allies—Morlok, Dominicus, and the brave souls who fought by their side—she fought with a fierceness born of desperation. Together, they formed a last line of defense, standing firm against the encroaching darkness, determined to protect their home and its people at any cost.   But Tia was not one to succumb to despair, not while there was still a glimmer of hope to be found. Alongside her most trusted allies--Together, they formed a last line of defense, standing firm against the encroaching darkness, determined to protect their home and its people at any cost. They stood as a beacon of unyielding resolve amidst the chaos that threatened to consume Idica. Tia's eyes blazed with fierce determination, reflecting the turbulent energies that swirled around her. The weight of leadership bore heavily upon her shoulders, yet she bore it with a steely resolve born of countless trials and tribulations.   As the skies above Idica erupted into a chaotic battleground, Tia's mind urgency to hold the line was drawn from the thousands of citizens fleeing for their lives aboard the city's airships. Each soul saved was a victory in itself, a testament to the resilience and courage of the people of Idica. And though the city itself may fall, Tia knew that as long as its people survived, there would always be hope for the future. She knew the risks all too well and understood the toll that war exacted upon those who fought in its name. But she also knew that sometimes, sacrifice was necessary to protect what mattered most.   With each strike of her blades, Nomokin and Letifer, Tia unleashed a torrent of chaotic fury upon the demonic horde. Her movements were a deadly dance, a symphony of violence and grace that spoke to her mastery of combat and her deep connection to the primal forces of the universe. With each spell cast and each blow struck Tia unleashed the full extent of her magical prowess upon the demonic horde. Wraiths danced at her command, chaos swirled around her, and for a fleeting moment, she felt the weight of the world on her shoulders. But she did not falter. For in that moment, she understood that the lives of those fleeing were intertwined with their efforts, and she would do whatever it took to ensure their survival. Morlok, a towering figure of strength and resolve, fought by her with an unmatched ferocity. His hammer, Stormherald, was a force of nature in his hands, crashing down upon the demonic invaders with relentless fury. With each swing, he carved a path through the enemy ranks, his determination unwavering even in the face of overwhelming odds.   Dominicus, masked and enigmatic, moved with a grace and precision that belied his orcish heritage. His body was a deadly extension of his will, cutting through the demonic hordes with a lethal efficiency. With each strike, he sought to protect his queen and his comrades, his loyalty unwavering even in the face of certain death.   Together, they fought as one, their hearts ablaze with a fierce determination to defend their home to the very end. And though the forces of darkness may have laid waste to the city of Idica, they could not extinguish the light of hope that burned within the hearts of its people.   As the battle reached its crescendo, Tia felt the raw, untamed power surging within her. It was a power born of chaos, of the very essence of creation and destruction. With a primal roar, she unleashed this power in a devastating wave of destruction, decimating the ranks of the demonic invaders with a ferocity that bordered on divine.   But even as the dust settled and the echoes of her fury faded into the ether, Tia knew that their victory was only temporary. The battle was far from over. However, though the flames of chaos still raged within her, burning bright and unyielding against the encroaching darkness.
