Berginsel

Literally translating to Mountain Island, the continent of Berginsel is covered by snowy peaks with green valleys in between. This continent is almost entirely populated by dwarves. Once upon a time there were many dwarven fortresses dotted around the landscape but after the deliverer recruited so many of the dwarven warriors they were forced to consolidate into just three large thaigs.

The Fall, And Rise of Dragons

The continent of Berginsel has always been plagued by dragons for as long as any can remember. The deliverer was said to have irradiated them but as the years passed after his disappearance dragons moved back into the area with a vengeance, worse than they ever were. They were the main reason why the clans had to consolidate into their three thaigs, because most of the dwarven warriors went with the deliverer or died in his crusade they were unable to defend themselves against the return of dragons to the area. It is known in the area that dragons will often seek out and kill dwarves, often fighting to the bitter end when they normally would have retreated.

Fauna & Flora

Almost all of the trees are evergreen with the small exception of maple near the southern coast. The southern tip has a great forest. As you move north the forest give way to great mountains with valleys or varying sizes. The wild creatures are some of the fiercest in the world. Giant goats and dire sheep roam the valleys, herds of large moose migrate through the mountains. The predators have largely been outcompeted by dragons, only the largest and most savage of each species survived to breed. The dire wolves and owlbears of Berginsel are the largest and fiercest in the world.
