Hanns Brettin has a complicated relationship with almost everyone in the royal court. It started long before King Heinrich's death, but the death worsened it. Gertrude Weber, the royal chancellor, was never his best friend and now she suspects Hanns of killing the king. No matter how many times he says that he didn't do it, she doesn't believe him.
Hanns never married, but had a few lovers during his life. It is said that in Susannestadt lives his son that he never accepted as part of the family.

After graduating he managed to convince the court mage to employ him as an assistant. Not much later the court mage mysteriously disappeared and Hanns got the job.
