Overview
The layers of Hades are called the Three Glooms — places without joy, hope, or passion. A gray land with an ashen sky, Hades is the destination of many souls that are unclaimed by the gods of the Upper Planes or the fiendish rulers of the Lower Planes. These souls become larvae and spend eternity in this place that lacks a sun, a moon, stars, or seasons. Leaching away color and emotion, this gloom is more than most visitors can stand.
Inhabitants
The inhabitants of Hades are almost exclusively dead or undead. The living find it almost unbearable to exist here as a pall of despair is palpable in the air. Those who count among the living are usually practitioners of dark magic or those seeking Vecna for reasons noble or nefarious.
Vecna, God of Evil Secrets, is by far the most powerful being on this plane. Wielding near infinite necromantic power that is only further bolstered by the inhabitants of Hades. He uses this sorrow-filled plane as an impenetrable redoubt from which to plot and scheme against the material plane.
