13th Baron Waketopper's Regiment of Shock troopers
The 13th Baron Waketopper's Regiment of Shock troopers are a specialist regiment that is part of the Infantry Corps of the Royal Army of Eglen.
History
Even though the nobility is not in charge of creating an army anymore, many regiment's still carry names from that past. One of the very few traditions kept in Glorious Kingdom of Eglen. The Waketopper's Regiment got fame in the War of Creation of the Glorious Kingdom, they fought hard, masters in breaking barriers, breaching walls, and crashing through sieges. Blockades were basically non existent for them. And they were very good in crossing difficult terrain as well. They maintained that skill set throughout the centuries. Nowadays they ride Ironclad walkers, and are specialist shock troopers.
Build up and size
The regiment is split into three battalions, each with six-hundred Walkers.
One battalion consists of six companies of one-hundred Walkers each and one staff company.
One company is split into five platoons of twenty Walkers each, and one transport platoon and one maintenance platoon.
Abilities
The Ironclad Walkers are capable of manoeuvring through difficult terrain, from flat fields, to climbing rock faces up mountains, they can also transfer rivers and streams without the need for bridges. But they are not fast. Therefore, the regiment has a lot of general service trucks from Barton & Lucas that can move the walkers at speed to where they are needed, as long as the roads are good. But one Platoon has already proven that if need be, the trucks can be pulled across a bit of broken road with use of the walkers.
Deployment
Even though there is a whole 1800 walker big regiment, they are never deployed as a single unit, most often a single platoon is added to more general infantry to support them, or push trough a difficult patch. As the walkers are a heavy load in the coal requirement and size of the support train of an army on campaign. Still the Waketoppers are not the fastest troops that can be deployed as the walkers are to heavy to be transported by airship.
