Eglen's first

Start up

The two friends started their wagon company well before the age steam in 1862, they made everything from racing carriages for the nobility to a farmers dung wagon. After the invention of the steam engine the company was the first who managed to build steam powered wagons that were not one off projects from a crazy engineer. They helped found the Engine building Guild and the Guild of Boiler makers, and soon had the Royal Army of Eglen asking them to build steam powered wagons for them.

YCK-67

The company had a long lapse of meager years, untill the YCK-67 came around in 2597, it was an instant hit with the Royal Army of Eglen, and they used them extensifly during the Eastern Conquest the following year.

Due to the age of the company their B&L Monogram can be found on many a vehicle part. And there's a substancial secondhand trade in parts going on from people who want to build their own vehicles.

Larkin

Only in Larkin there's still a workshop affiliated with Barton & Lucas that makes wagons to be drawn by Horses as steam power is illigal there. But besides the name they have very little in common with the Self Powered Wagon Company.

New leadership

The current head of the company is Ïlamya Yron descendent of Lucas Yron. He has taken over leadership in 2697.

Eglen's First

Barton & Lucas is in a two hundred year old ongoing legal battle with Eglen's first, over the name. The post distributing company claims ownership of the name, but Barton & Lucas claim that it's just a reference to them being the first to build steam powered vehicles. But neither company has the exact date of when they started using it and both keep finding older documents showing they were the first Eglen's first.
