With the crew now in possession of the riddle from the The Tower of Ivory, all that remains is to solve it, and discover a secret left behind by the Agaletians.

Investigating the riddle, the crew of the AAN Punyal decide to go to the Seriana, the capital of the Kingdom of Vola, as it has a library that allows them to research possible clues. There, they discover that the architect of the Ivory Tower is a man named Kristoff Dandelion, who constructed other structures in Damir, in addition to being a master of puzzles.   The crew surmise that they first need to find Truesight Lenses, as well as a crystal to help them attune to the invisible beam the structures will broadcast, in accordance with the second couplet of the riddle. In Seriana, they find Artima, of Artima's Lensworks, and acquire the Truesight Lenses and the crystal, without any instructions.   Next, the crew work out that the beams emanate from two points in Damir - the Trident Throne memorial in southern Eymir, and a ruin called the Mirror of Agaletia in Mirand. Deciding to travel to the closer of the two, the ship arrives near the memorial as night falls. Within the depths of the memorial they battle living shadows, and come face to face with one of Dandelion's puzzles. After Simple locks the puzzle out for a few hours, the crew succeed in entering the correct code, and through their new lenses they see a beam stretching from the center tine of the trident into a point too far in the horizon for them to see.   The crew then argue for some time about the Swiftfoots' ability to see in the dark, and they visit Orin , the capital of Eymir, to try and buy some. In a potion shop in the city, the proprietor tells them that Artima is the only artisan in the Damirian frontier capable of crafting such an object, prompting the crew to journey back to Seriana to acquire them.   While in Seriana and resupplying, Morg and B3 notice a contingent of Emirate sailors observing their activity. Once the Punyal is in the air, it is followed by an Emirate destroyer until they come within the vicinity of Mirand, whereupon the ship veers away.   In Mirand, the crew conduct more research and work out that the Mirror of Agaletia is not the former home of the Magical Society in Mirand's capital Feoh, but is rather a small complex on the island's western edge.
