Kemono
The Kemono are a species of humanoids native to the Broken World, mostly inhabiting the continents of Kirimand and Nadah, although a sub-species (the Lanthir) have seen distribution in the continents of Agelua and Damir.
Kemono are distinct from the Zootypes by their appearance - Zootypes resemble anthropomorphic animals, possessing a significant number of features from that animal, whereas Kemono are mostly humanoid save for ears, tails and some patches of fur that hint towards their non-Human heritage.
A feature of Kemono is that they are naturally attuned to the aether flow of the planet, and are able to "see" the paths that aether streams take across the sky, making them excellent navigators.
There are five main distinct tribes of Kemono, although smaller populations of uncommon Kemono varieties also exist:
- The Lanthir, a race possessing rabbit or dog like ears.
- The Ninir, a race possessing cat-like ears and tails.
- The Kizinir, a race possessing fox-like ears and bushy fox-tails.
- The Firinir, a race possessing ferret-or-mink tails and pointed ears.
- The Dormir, a race possessing mouse-like ears and tails.
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
While interbreeding between the subspecies is entirely possible, it is generally culturally discouraged. Due to the genetic makeup, hybrids will express one parents' Kemono heritage, and interspecies relationships (almost always with humans for some reason) will almost always result in a Kemono child instead.
