Scope

What is your motivation for building this world? It's more about expanding on this world, particularly in areas that lack canon detail - biology, culture, language - and adding detail. I'm doing this because I'm a nerdy scientist that loves this race and have been writing enough about the world that I want to organize it better.
What are you hoping to get out of it? I want an organized reference for the information - both for me and for other fanfiction writers.
What is the Hook or Unique Selling Point of your world? What makes it unique or different? The changes and detail I'm adding to the angara make them different from humans and most sci-fi peoples in mainstream media.

Angara are hermaphroditic (aasabitara) and show minimal sexual dimorphism, with a full spectrum of outward morphological characteristics seen in both male (ryaa) and female (ooya) angara.
Gender roles do not exist in angaran society, and few actions outside of childbearing and nursing are associated with a particular sex. An angara who has changed sex is layjonn (twice curved or turning curve), which is common, and alters very little of their external morphology. Physical build and shape varies more strongly with habitat on the individual’s ancestral planet than with any other factor, including sex. Specifically, angara who are short, of light build, or with a smaller, smooth jinesh (the folded crest around the head and neck) are equally likely to be male or female.

Theme

What is the genre of your world? Science fiction, recovering from post-apocalyptic disaster (The Scourge
How does the world feel (player experience)? Mass Effect Andromeda is cheery exploration twisted horribly dark. The players/characters are constantly facing new unexpected threats, but they're just trying to find a new home! Specifically, the Expansion (my world) has players/characters discovering how to deal with new peoples and dramatic revelations about their species' history.
What is the tone of your world? Medium: Brutally dark sometimes but with a lot of hope
What is player agency like? The players/characters have a large impact on the world, shaping its success and recovery, defeating galactic-level threats.
What are the recurring themes which reinforce the genre, tone and feel of your world?

• Technology is ubiquitous, both modern and ancient
• Strong social ties between angaran groups are central to the conflicts and revelations
• The scale of the discoveries scales rapidly from small details about a person's life, to galactic-level war

Meta:

• Race/Species Relations: Enslavement and genocide during the war with the Kett, splinter alien-hating group (Roekaar) within the angara, each of the new Andromeda Initiative races trying to find their place in a system that largely belongs to the angara
• Technology Influence: Unlocking more of the Drokaalen - Remnant technology will quickly be possible with recent discoveries, especially Meridian
• Agriculture and Trade: Resource ownership and trade negotiations are hot topics with a rapidly expanding population consisting of multiple sapient races
• Military Influence: What role will the Resistance(organization:3acfbb64-0402-435d-8610-09d68af23306) play in this new paradigm? Will the @[Roekaar remain disbanded for good? Will the Kett send more invasion forces? Will the Jardaan ever return, and if they do will they be hostile or friendly?

Drama:

• No one yet knows if the angara can interbreed with any of the races from the Milky Way
• The humans seem to initially be taking control of Meridian, but the Angara obviously have the rights to it
• One of the major angaran heroes from the last battles of the war, Jaal ama Darav, is in a strong romantic relationship with the Human Pathfinder, Vakara Ryder
• Two of the races from the Milky Way, Asari and Krogan, have much longer lifespans than the Angara
• Angara with ancestral memories may be found much more frequently as they explore areas more central to the Jardaan
