Session 5 Recap - "On to Poliel's Temple! Finally! (Why are we doing this?)" - Mar 3 to Mar 7, 999
General Summary
The session began exactly where the last session left off. The party was at the Faepetor Mansion dealing with the aftermath of the attack.
The aftermath was brutal. These events triggered Immianthe Faepetor's sudden blossoming into a sorceress and it was announced with a terrible ball of fire. Avull, sensing the imminent threat, draped herself over Immianthe and prevented the explosion from harming anyone else. Sadly, Avull died saving those around her.
Immiantha, accompanied by Riley, her father and a collection of guards and servants took her to a room to calm her down and try to make sense of events.
Fi stayed with Avull in sad contemplation.
Dutch attempted to quarter his captured flying monstrous horse in the sables. He arranged to return and retrieve it after questioning their captive who turned out to be Uhmed Bhannem.
Dutch, Genevieve and Arya, with Riley listening in, questioned Uhmed. Riley had previously noted that Uhmed wore Sepik styled clothing (his home town and more than a month's travel down south). Uhmed claimed he was an unwilling accomplice of Gor'Gorath and asked for their protection. The party tried to ask a number of questions, but despite his apparaent willingness to answer all of their questions, he would frequently find himself unable to speak of certain topics. When pushed, he began to choke and die in front of them. Thinking quickly, they knocked him out in hope of stopping this.
The learned that his role was to calm down Gor'Goraths' kidnapping victims.
After a brief angry conversation with Folduin Faepetor, Immianthe's father, the party prepared to leave (after assurances that Uhmed would be place in Taran a' Misha, Lord of Radivant's prison. But first, they spoke again with Eldaerenth Gracebow about Gor'Gorath. They learned that he was one of the first Demon generals of the great Rift War, believed to have been killed. This was obviously not the case.
The party returned to the Cat's Claw Inn and spent a few days recuperating. At the end of this brief period of rest, a lawyer named Lip Jao met the part at the Inn and escorted them to a piece of property. They learned to their surprise and great excited that Folduin Faepetor had rewarded them with this property for saving his daughter.
Soon after this, the party agreed to (finally) go to Poliel's temple. Arya knew the way on account of the vision she had received at the Silver Tower.
Arriving at the temple, the party discovered that a hapless adventurer had been killed by a Yeti and its wolf pack. After a furious but mostly one-sided battle, they defeated the Yeti and wolves and moved on in to the temple.
They somewhat clumsily triggered a few dart traps but then successfully solved a simple riddle involving a stone statue, martial movements and a bit of blood.
The session ended with the in front of an open door looking into a dusty room, skeletons littering the floor.
