Session 4 - Genevieve Lao - "I Suppose I'll Lend a Hand"

General Summary

Excerpt from the journal of Genavieve Lao March 3, 999   The past few days passed without much issue. Arya disappeared for a few days though none of us were completely sure where she went. She wants us to come with her to go visit some temple or church of some sort. I’m not sure what’s significant about it, but who knows...there might be something there worth knowing for the future.   We also spent some time at the Silver Tower. Dutch bought some holy water and wanted to test it out by pouring it in the basin in front of the tower. I will admit, I was actually quite surprised when it boiled away. Arya then tried to put some of her own blood in the basin and it appears that the tower healed her wound. The tower healing only worked for her which is quite interesting. We decided to test out some of my poison in the bowl as well. It seemed to boil into water. At least it tasted like water when I tried it afterwards. Dutch was also playing around throwing some healing spells at it. Of course he was careless and one attempt blasted us back a good couple of feet. Sometimes I question why I bother with White Council members. Though I’m not sure how close we are to getting inside, the tower has some interesting properties, to say the least.   The next few days were fairly calm overall. We went out to a tailor to get some outfits for the upcoming party held by Folduin Faepetor for his daughter, Immianthe Faepetor. Though I couldn’t really care less about his daughter, the chance to dress up and get some free wine was too good to pass up. You tend to get good information at parties as well. Riley offered to buy my dress for me. Fifteen gold is a lot to put down so I was surprised he actually did it. Though nobles aren’t always my favorite people, maybe he isn’t all that bad.   So the day of the party came and things went about how you would expect. I’m usually not a heavy drinker, but I figured I would let loose a bit given the occasion. I had a few glasses of wine before heading over to see what the others were up to. Immianthe seemed to be talking Arya’s ears off. She seemed so interested in that toad incident. Riley asked Immianthe about the other guests to distract her a bit, and I decided to join them to get a feel for who was around. It ended up being a good choice. We met an old man who works as a historian (Eldaerenth Gracebow) and I was able to get some valuable information out of him. The tower, Kallor Eiderann Tes'thesula, Old Angry Eyes...I definitely have my theories. It looks like we’ll need to tread carefully going forward.   After finishing my talk with him, we went back to the main room and I refilled my glass. Then all of a sudden there were bells ringing throughout the town and a scream from Immianthe. To put it simply, it seems like some rift Demons were trying to kidnap her. I did recognize Gor'Gorath. Though he didn’t seem like he was too concerned with me, and I could say the same to him. Gor’gorath and his business are none of my concern. Really, I would rather stay out of it. Plus the “princess” seemed more annoying than anything so he might be doing us a favor in that respect. However, everyone else was set on trying to save her and the wine put me in a decent enough mood to help out. We were able to successfully save her and capture a human man who was working with Gor’gorath. The next step will be to question him. Since I’m now involved in this mess, I might as well learn what I can and hopefully get something useful out of it. Speaking of which, I’m expecting proper payment from Folduin. I will need to discuss that with him later on.
