High King Hendrin

High King Hendrin Granug Ironflask

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Hendrin was very fit throughout his life, remaining agile and strong long into his elder years. Though Hendrin would suffer one of the 1st cases of the Grey Plague, which is believed to have caused the heart attack which killed him.

Identifying Characteristics

Dark brown splotch on forehead.

Apparel & Accessories

Upon the creation of the Forgebound, the earliest Ergo mage of the Dwari would gift Hendrin a set of three carved tablets, aptly named the "Tablets of Kings", which Hendrin would later have converted into the pauldrons and chest plate of a set of armor that he would personally wear into battle. Hendrin would also have a crown created, made of copper with a large emerald gem in its center.

Specialized Equipment

In the many expeditions through the dark caves of Kolkakla, Hedrin would be gifted a staff by the School of Mages which used the light-generation properties of cave creepers to generate light around the staff's tip. This staff would be used as a weapon and tool by the king, alongside his sword "Drungluk".

Mental characteristics

Personal history

While almost all of King Hendrin's history before the 1st Eve of Tidefall is unknown, it is known by most Dwari that Hendrin was the son of the owners of a prolific mushroom farming group, and was in the farm, managing the farmers when the 1st Tidefall occurred. Besides this basic information, Hendrin has chosen to never disclose any other details, believing it better to forget the past then to dwell on it. For the short time after Tidefall, but before his appointment to high king, Hendrin would quickly become a leader of the small group of farmers he previously managed, keeping order over them, and guiding them to recover other groups of isolated farmers. Once he was made king, Hendrin would begin to reconstruct aspects of the proto-dwari society, such as creating the clans, the ruk, and beginning constructing of the First Hold. Hendrin would then lead the reemergence and push for the 1st migration which would lead to his final years as king, fighting and commanding the engineer's rebellion. When Hendrin's son Krarg the True becomes king, Hendrin lives out the rest of his days assisting in the construction of the Kolvulanuk palace, then living in it with his wife Wela for the rest of his days.

Education

No one knows what Hendrin's education was, as he was educated long before the first Tidefall. But, he was very likely the most well educated of the Dwari survivors, being the manager of the farm, and therefore more wealthy and able to afford a better education.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Hendrin's accomplishments were many, but most of them simply have to do with building a sturdy foundation for the Dwari to rebuild from, as well as creating the beginnings of a strong military force, and solidifying cooperation with humanity at the end of the Engineer's Rebellion.

Failures & Embarrassments

While Hendrin is often perceived as a flawless leader, he did have one major flaw in his rule. This one flaw would be the underestimation of the Engineer's Rebellion in the early years of the fighting, prolonging the death for much longer than necessary because Hendrin believed that an organized military force was unnecessary, and feared the power it's leader would hold. He would fix this issue through the creation of the Warriors of the Fallen Sun, but the prolonging of the rebellion still remained as a blight on his near-perfect rule.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Upon the 1st Eve of Tidefall, Hendrin decided that he must make it his duty to protect all the people who looked for him for guidance. Hendrin believed that only he could lead these disorganized groups to a rebuilt society underground.

Social

Religious Views

Unknown by most Dwari, Hendrin was not actually religious. Thungri was revealed to the Dwari only a few years after Hendrin's crowning and despite the countless claims that Hendrin was a king chosen by the god of Dwari himself, Hendrin was while technically not a non-believer, uncaring of religion, allowing it for the sake of motivation the populace, but not subscribing to it personally.

Speech

Hendrin had a notably kind, soft voice for a Dwari, more similar to that of a human male than the rough deep voices of most Dwari men. He often greeted the people with, "The king greets you, oh good people" and would leave with a similar, "The king leaves you, oh good people".

Wealth & Financial state

While Hendrin was High King, the role (at the time) came with no financial gain, as currency didn't even exist upon Hendrin's crowning. However, Hendrin would ensure that the crown always had enough ruks to fund public projects.
