Zante

The elderly Zante is a bit of an odd character in the village.
Apparently he has lived here his whole life and has been a fisher in his youth.
He claims that he has the soul of an explorer and adventurer, but the back aches of an old rice farmer, and that he's never really had the stomach for the open road, so Keylethia is the furthest from home he's ever been.

That has not stopped him from cultivating an interest for anything that occurs outside the village, or that passes through it.
Books are his most valued treasure, especially when they describe far away lands and people.
Something of a local authority on the history of the area, he seems to know a little bit about everything and nothing much about anything.
He is well loved by his fellow villagers, many of whom have learned to read and write from him.
If ever the good folk of Gardinest should discover an interest in setting up a local fair, or a society for the preservation of buildings of historical interest or anything of the kind, Zante is the kind of person who would be at the heart of such an organisation.
