Autumn Harvest

A common festival across Human controlled territories, the Autumn Harvest is a time of plenty before the cold of winter arrives and prevents new crops from being grown.

Execution

The festival typically takes place in the late fall as the last of the crops are harvested and the livestock herds are thinned in preparation of winter. While the farmers bring in the last of the harvest the other towns folk will begin organizing the festival, setting up cooking stations, baking goods, roasting meat, setting up tables, etc. There is a communal effort to dry, can, and prepare the various vegetables, fruits, grains, and meats for winter so the farmers can focus their attention on the fields. Once the town storehouse is fully stocked, the festivities can begin.   There are all sorts of competitions and events that take place during the Autumn harvest, which include...   Dragon Ass Pepper Eating Contest: One of the hottest foods Humans grow, only the bravest participate in this event. These Dragon Ass Peppers are so hot that healers must be on stand by to help those who learn the hard way that these peppers aren't to be taken lightly.   Baking Competition: An elimination competition, contestants are given a random baked good to produce in a set time. Only a handful will move onto the next round and the process will repeat until one baker reigns supreme.   Sheep Racing: A popular event for children, the kids will climb on the back of a woolly sheep and hang on for their lives as the sheep race down a track.   Various Food Stands: The Autumn Harvest is a prefect time to show off one's cooking skills and try out new recipes. There is everything from baked goods, sweets, cooked meats, etc.

Participants

The Autumn Harvest is a popular festival for smaller Human towns, with typically every townsfolk taking part. In some towns the Harvest has become a popular tourism attraction for travelers that can't resist taking part in the various competitions and events.
