History

For as long as history has been recorded in the region, the 'Birthplace of Sea Monsters' has been said to be the place where sea monsters are born. The local communities have many myths and legends involving infamous sea monsters emerging the blue hole and causing chaos. Typically the monsters are either killed or chased back into the blue hole, never to be seen again. There are a few legends that claim that a God of Sea Monsters is trapped at the bottom of the 'Birthplace of Sea Monsters', and that the sea monsters that emerge are it's spawn.   There have been some reports of Merfolk visiting the area. Sailors report seeing Merfolk dragging individuals bound in seaweed to the edge of the blue hole, before shoving them off the edge. The victim will then slowly sink into the depths, struggling against their bindings, and will eventually disappear in the depths. Some sailors have claimed to see the waters within the hole begin the move after the Merfolk disappeared, while others claimed to see some kind of creature emerge from the depths, snatch the bound Merfolk, and then retreat back into the depths.
