'Beachcombers'

While many 'Raptor-Folk' prefer the shelter of the forests or the relative safety of the backs of sauropods, the 'Beachcombers' live on Sauria's coastlines. Everyday they comb the beaches for washed up creatures to use for food, jewelry, etc. At night they retreat back into their caves, nestled into the cliffs nearby.   When both the 'Ancient Ones' and their descendants discovered Sauria, it was the 'Beachcombers' that they first encountered. The encounter with the 'A.O.' did not end well for 'The Beachcombers', so when their descendants arrived many centuries later, the 'Beachcombers' attacked first in order to defend themselves and the island.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

For the 'Beachcombers' the oceans mean everything to them. It gives them food, materials for tools, art, and so much more. However the ocean also hides much danger in the form of aquatic predators, poisons, currents, and storms.   The Ocean has also been the source of 'The Scaleless Ones' (Aka The 'A.O.' and their descendants) Beings from legend that appear on wooden beasts that skim the oceans surface. Stories of how violent these beings have been passed down for generations, and many now believe that it is their duty to protect the island from them.

Art & Architecture

Like many other aspects of their lives, the ocean also provides many materials for the 'Beachcombers' to make art with. Their cliff side caves are extensively decorated with paint made by crushed shells, corals and coastal flowers.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

Before eggs are laid the mother must construct a nest for them. Typically this involves many shells for the base, and kelp lining the inside of the nest.   When the eggs hatch the newly emerged young will be brought to the ocean's  edge and dipped into the ocean so the ocean may greet the newest members of the clan.
