Recap
Springtide 16 to Greenbloom 6, 3033: Year of Darkness
The Flamebringers had a spell of downtime on their way to Charonvein, much of which was spent playing Mountains and Monsters. They were briefly waylaid on their journey by an adult blue dragon, offended by the intrusion into its territory and looking for treasure on their ship. They were alerted to this by Vlask, who rushed through the Hollow Mountain looking for them. When they arrived, the ship and their crewmates had taken some damage in the attack, but ultimately they were able to handle the dragon. Marx was knocked down, but rose up with new powers gifted to him by the storm within the dragon. Vanderlith, Vlask, and Marx all received field promotions following the battle, to Admiral, Grand Captain, and Captain respectively, changing nothing about the chain of command.
The crew was able to harvest a few components from the dragon, a tooth, seven blood samples, a large scale; the final of which Pharos will be able to turn into a new suit of armor to replace his old one he lost to the Talons card.
Other than that, the team had three weeks of uninterrupted downtime.
The Silent Soliloquy Downtime
City of Goliaths
After days of flying over dense jungle, filled with various small villages and dotted with Old World ruins, overrun with dinosaurs, the Flamebringers reached Charonvein.
The goliaths were in awe when the Sunstrider and Moonbreaker landed. For how rich they must be, considering they are one of the few consistent peddlers of magic items, they seem to live by modest means. Various crops are grown in terraced gardens along the mountain, kept from freezing by the hot springs that pool at the peak of the mountain and pour down through their gardens. Their houses are built near the peak, closest to the hot springs, and are made of mudbrick and thatched roofs. There is a large gathering space set into a stone wharf, a huge bonfire set in the center, constantly burning. Behind it, an eidolon with the head of a dragon presides over the area.
Tyra, through the Relic of Life, recognizes it as a red greatwyrm. One that must be nearby, as there is no way this mountain is heated through a natural hot springs alone; an element of it must be supernatural. But which greatwyrm is it? A greatwyrm is a powerful dragon thousands of years old. Though the is not enough detail in the statue to determine which one it is, there are only a few in existence, so it is a short list. Fjell of Mount Eldfjall, Frostwhisper, Joceryn Skywing, Hyundir the Night; and of course, the Oathbringers Eumoras, Levistus, and Alessandra. And Environ the Dread Flame, but he was slain in the Second Fey War.
Though, greatwyrms are often solitary creatures, and if they have no reason to make an appearance, they are more likely not to. Many think most hide in Mortal form.
As the ships landed, the group was rushed by Iravek, who wrapped Tyra in a bearhug, looking even buffer than when you saw him last, and clasped Aengus' hand in a tight forearm handshake. Iravek invited them to dinner at his home, but not before sizing up the group, impressed with the changes and returns it has witnessed since he last saw them.
They were also introduced to the Voice of Karrundax, the apparent leader of this village, who wore garb of flowing red silks and a mask and headdress like that of a red greatwyrm. He welcomed them, a little suspiciously, as he has heard of their reputation. But, he didn't kick them out; in fact, he invited them to some sort of biannual celebration happening at midnight.
But first, they'll have dinner with an old friend.
