Dwarf

The dwarves live and come from a massive subterranean empire: the Dwarven Kingdom. Living in gigantic cities that are connected via the Deep Roads their realm spans the entire continent of Thedas.
They have good trading relationships with the Tevinter Imperium and there are dwarven embassies all across Tevinter. Dwarves are also the only known sentient species that doesn't possess magical powers - unimaginable almost for the mage elite of the Imperium. This natural "disadvantage" is also a great advantage though, as dwarves are also the only known race able to mine Lyrium safely.
