In the days after Erecura was slain by Uzhul , fiends rampaged across the world, congregating in the West. One of them presented itself to the people of Lanilam as a wise counselor, a keeper of knowledge their own gods withheld withheld. Such was Xethius, called their Prophet, and his coming sparked a war that tore a people apart.
Xethius is wise beyond reckoning, but his tutelage comes with a price—sacrifice. By blood, by soul, and by secret, he takes every time he gives. Above all else Xethius craves knowledge that nobody else possesses, a secret shared with none, no matter how mundane. Sometimes to be the only keeper of that secret, everyone else who knows it must die.

Xethius seeks to gain perfect understanding of the universe--what makes gods gods, why something exists instead of nothing, the essence of matter and energy. More importantly, Xethius wishes to acquire this knowledge and deny it to others. To the Scaled Prophet, knowledge is zero-sum. Erasing and denying information is as important as keeping it.
