Eden
In 2018 CE by human reckoning, a gate opened between Earth and another world. This gate, located in Marquette, Michigan and known as the Superior Gate, allowed a contingent of humans, nefilim, and angels to flee from persecution on Earth and take refuge. Earth's governments eventually acknowledged them as an autonomous country after they wrote and submitted articles of independence and unveiled a national flag.
The nation is known on Earth as Eden. While most humans refer to the entirety of the other side of the gate as "Eden," this is erroneous as there are intelligent and organized native people with their own system of government and naming (see also Eriona).
Structure
The population settled in Eden is watched over by a pair of archangels, Lucifer and Rishona. Beneath them, the various bands of fallen angels and nefilim have their own leaders and power structures. The best known band is the Marquette-Keweenaw Band, lead by Musiel.
Public Agenda
The band leaders of Eden have stated that their primary agenda is the safety of their people, both angels and nefilim. To this end, Musiel has negotiated with Earth's United Nations for all discovered nefilim to be automatically granted citizenship of Eden, protecting their lives and autonomy until they can be relocated to Eden's protection.
Assets
Most of the equipment and supplies possessed by the Eden settlers were stolen or acquired illicitly from Earth sources before their exodus. Since the finalization of their independence, they have been allowed to sell and trade with Earth nations.
The native Erionans are still in negotiation with the Edenites as to what constitutes land possessed by the settlers. This has been slow going because "possession" is something of a foreign concept to the Erionans, though they are smart enough and savvy enough to be wary.

The nefilim population continues to grow rapidly as nefilim are identified and deported to Eden. Most of these nefilim arrive in the company of human family members and often at least one fallen angel.
Territories
Based on the maps of Michigan brought with them, the Edenites have mapped an approximation of Marquette's city boundaries. As of 2018, the Erionans have agreed to term this "Eden City" and belonging to the Eden settlers.
