Earl of Clarkhold Janus Vulmar

He's the son of a semi-disgraced family. The family has been fighting for years to rise above their station, but scandal after scandal has left them with few options except to place themselves at the mercy of their marital link to the emperor. 
Through clever plotting they were able to unite the family Vulmar to the Empire when the young emperor Endyd II took Janus's half-sister as his wife. This marriage is considered to be foolishness by most among the houses and is extremely detested by the Endyd's own mother. 
This union led to Janus's appointment as Earl of Clarkhold. An appointment of Empire held lands. They're in the North and amount to nothing more than handling little squabbles, but the family is mentioned among major names.
He has been, by all accounts a good Earl, but he's still disliked and people believe he spends too much time in the world of politics to be effective. The rumor is that his son, @Carson Vulmar is actually the one who rules.
