2021-12-08 - Brewing Up Business
General Summary
While the rest of our heroes were out looking for the core of a flux charger and learning a lesson about racism against drow, Hurmir was away brewing a pilsner at the Jaded Pony. Once the brew was completed he decided to take it out and see if he could make a pretty penny on it.
He enlisted the help of Vik Greenbissle who happened to be walking by with an empty cart to help schlep the grog around town. With four barrels of Pony Pils loaded up, the two of them, plus Jori headed off to make a sale.
Vik lead them to a nearby bar, Comrades a dark and cavernous bar with a topaz discoball above the dancefloor. It was apparently empty and the proprietor, a topaz gem dragonborn named Gora was counting the previous nights take. Hurmir offered a taster and Gora enjoyed it enough to offer to buy a barrel at 8gp. Gora did not appeciate being called, "brother."
With one sale in pocket the party headed out to the next location a party place called Bleeding Heart. This iconic tavern is located beneath a temple to Atë the entrance of which is found in the graveyard. Inside the party found an all night party tavern with loud thumping music, flashing lights of many colors, and revelers in various stages of intoxication. Here it seemed the party never stopped.
Hurmir approached the bar and attempted to sell the beer to a chipper, but rather dimwitted bartender named Guy. Once he was fully flummoxed he sent for the house manager a flamboyant dwarf named, Thronbottom. Hurmir and Thornbottom negotiated a deal for two barrels at 8gp a piece. Hurmir was, however, forced to pour the sample directly in Thornbottom's mouth.
With the final barrel left to go the party headed off to The Lusty Vermin Warden an exclusive establishment that hosts Upper's who want to slum in Lower Caerodale. They tend to be thrill seekers who want to "be close to the poors" without having to actually interact. The entrance was hidden and it was difficult for Vik to remember how they'd entered previously. Eventually, they were able to determine that a door could be found if one looked through a mirror.
Once inside they were greeted by four individuals who used prestidigitation to clean their clothing, although one of the individuals struggled with the verbal component of the spell. They ascended a spiral staircase made of fine marble and on the first level, of presumably many, they found a luxodon reclining and eating grapes and attempted to sell the barrel to him. He did not take, however, a human woman named Bernie heard that they were from outside and was enthralled with the idea of getting a taste of the other walk of life purchased the remaining barrel for a whopping 90gp.
With 104gp in hand, the party headed off to round out their last errands.
The party found an armorer named Mylon the Ironjaw who runs The Drossless Armorer a shop that specializes in magical armaments. He offered to make shields out of the flail snails for 1700gp per shield. Jori agreed to the price but was forced to borrow gold from Hurmir to meet the price. The shield will be ready by the next time Jori needs it.
Next the party followed up with Paz, The Keeper, to see if Jori might encounter some new strange animals. There were indeed several unique creatures, a dimetrodon and a deinonychus being the most interesting.
Finally, they headed out to find the world renowned mushroom contact. Which turned out to be two dragonborn, Nupita and her daughter Huhara. Here they joined The Pickling Guild for 10gp as Annual Members.

Notes
The roll for making the pils was an 11, putting it just over average for the style. We determined the price per barrel to be 5gp as a default. Hurmir offered 5% to Kip at the Jaded Pony, who probably provided the raw materials as well. 5% also went to Vik for distribution costs.
