Ducessa Ygraine Beldevere is the lady of Starfall and the Warden of the Crownlands.
She is the half-elf daughter of the White Knight, the beloved Duc Tristan Beldevere, and Lady Venuriel, a high elf noble from the reclusive nation of Ellondoth. Ygraine is a benevolent governor with a capacity for compassion and wisdom far beyond her years. Her enamored subjects have given her the honorable moniker The White Lady to signify the resemblance she bears to her late father.

History

Ygraine inherited the title of ducessa at the young age of 15 following the untimely death of Duc Tristan. The duc was a beloved hero and statesman, and his tragic murder was seen as a portent of doom for House Beldevere. The prodigious daughter of the family, Serah Cilia, had recently taken the unbreakable oaths of the Kingsguard and Ygraine was seen as a wet-behind-the-ears girl that was only just entering high society. However, rather than falling into despair and ruin House Beldevere persevered and the reign of the young ducessa has been just and fair from its very first moments.
The Beldeveres surprised nobility and commoners alike by attending the funeral of the White Knight dressed all in white rather than black, and surprise turned to amazement when the grief-strucken duchess pardoned the misguided noble responsible for his father's murder instead of enacting bloody vengeance. The duchess has continued the habit of wearing white garments in honor of his father to this day.
