Templar Knights Organization in Amanor | World Anvil

Templar Knights

The Templar Knights are a group of powerful clerics and holy warriors devoted to the sun goddess Iona. They are the Caraegweni sister chapter of the Egean Templar Brotherhood.   Despite being a quasi-militaristic organization, the Templar Knights function as the church of Iona in Caraegwyn. As such, they are the most prominent and influential religious organization in the Summer Kingdom for Iona is the most widely worshipped deity there. The templars maintain the Cathedral of Light and the attached Templar Bastion in the capital city of Caernarfon and within their hallowed halls the templars safeguard ancient religious relics as well as countless graves of saints and martyrs.

Political controversy

As a sister chapter of the imperial Templar Brotherhood, the Templar Knights operate under the authority of the Imperial Church of Eternal Sun and thus must follow the rulings of its High Clerics. Having such an influential faction as the Templar Knights answer to a foreign power has been a troubling prospect for the monarchs of Caraegwyn in the past, but the High Templars -- the leaders of the Templar Knights -- have always deigned to remain friends with the Summer Crown.   In practice, the Templar Knights have been mostly indomitable when it comes to international politics, choosing to cherish the steadfast alliance between them and the people of Caraegwyn even at the expense of imperial favor.

Templar relics

The most prized treasures of the templars are the battlesuits they maintain within their highly fortified bastion. These 12 relics of ancient craftsmanship are hulking suits of armor that appear as if made for ogres or half-giants but can be manned by regular humans. The suits bestow astoundingly strong blessings on anyone that wears them, and they are made from materials and wrought with enchantments of such legendary quality that they are told to be indestructible. The might of these suits in battle is the stuff of legends.
