Truesilver

Kibilria / Mithril

Truesilver - or Kibilria as it is known to the dwarves - is a highly reflective silvery-white precious metal akin to silver, yet very lightweight and immensely strong. Truesilver appears only in the stone of Erodan, deep below the earth or hidden within the mountains. It appears as minuscule specks of mineral inclusions within the rock itself, so small one must rely on its reflective properties to identify it. Although some individuals and organisations mine truesilver in this manner, it is highly inefficient and requires the excavation of large quantities of rock to produce even a single ingot. Most dwarven holds acquire their mithril over long periods of time as they delve deeper into the earth and hollow out more chambers and halls. To most, truesilver is rare and truly precious, of inestimable value, and beyond a gift fit for a king. Yet the true wealth of truesilver lies below the mountains of Dûrin, in the heart of Erodan. Those dwarven holds fortunate enough to delve into the ancestral rock may chance upon vast and sprawling veins of truesilver deep within the mountains' roots, producing veritable armories of kibilria to the immense jealousy of all. But not only in the highlands is truesilver found; as the deep roots of Erodan extend into the bedrock of Arani, so too do the mineral-laden rock formations that harbor this precious metal. In the highlands, the constant rain and snow erode the rocks, releasing small chips of truesilver. These are then carried by a myriad of waterways, from the mighty Feyfire river to the cascading falls of Gaernâla and its numerous tributaries, and even through the Brathal and Linn rivers, out to the sea. It is within these rocky veins that small deposits of truesilver are discovered in Northermark or Highgarden province, much to the delight of those who find them. Or upon the shores of the Feyfire river that the elves collect their mithril, taking advantage of the natural distribution of this valuable resource.
