Abolition Scorpion Vehicle in Amalgama | World Anvil

Abolition Scorpion

I ran. I abandoned my brothers and sisters after I felt the rumble of the earth. I can still hear its chittering noise when I sleep. No one expected them to bring one of those damned creatures this far north.

Taken from the desert landscapes of Gulgrennjor and tamed, these giant scorpions are used to quell established groups of bandits. The Enforcers commission their taming and outfitting to be done by the different sectors of the Laborers. Once tamed and outfitted, each Abolition Scorpion is assigned a squadron of soldiers. These units are rare, as even tamed giant scorpions are temperamental, and used only when normal Enforcer squads are insufficient to disband a bandit group.

Weapons & Armament

The giant scorpion itself will utilize its stinger and claws to fight. While naturally deadly, additional enhancements are typically attached. The stinger is outfitted with additional steel barbs, useful for impaling more foes. These barbs are situated on the top of the stinger, aimed to impale on the tail's extended backswing. The exterior of their claws are outfitted with narrow steel blades, sometimes multiple rows of blades.   Additionally, soldiers riding in the saddle will fire arrows or throw spears with more focused attacks.
I would be deemed a coward, if anyone survived. Which they didn't. The scorpion's bladed claws cut through my brethren like they were nothing. And Rie. Poor girl. Impaled upon the stinger, screaming a slow death. Aye, I was a coward, but I was no fool.

Armor and defense

Its natural carapace is strong enough to withstand most attacks. However, its underbelly often gets reinforced with steel plates. These plates are attached with straps that are nailed down into its hard top-carapace. The riders' saddle is made of mostly leather with bits of metal to hold shape, and covers the nails that hold the bottom underbelly plate.

Additional Design

Passengers are fastened in—or dismount all together—for combat, as the scorpion's attacks will utilize much of its body. This severe jostling is not ideal for passengers to remain mounted for extended battles.
