Tan-Noz

The Tan-Noz are tongues of spectral fire that appear at night. When encountered in the wild, they can lead to danger, or warn of its approach, so interacting with these magical flames should be treated with caution.

Manifestation

Tan-Noz are usually bluish-green, but can flare and flicker in a variety of colours. They can both appear as tongues of flame, also called goulou-noz, that appear to hover in the air. The Korrigan have discovered ways to contain the Tan-Noz in lanterns, called letern-noz. These are used for both personal use and to light Korrigan built structures. Tan-Noz is often a component in alchemical lighting as well in many regions. Looking directly at the core of a letern-noz will cause blindness.
A second variety, also called wreckers fire, is a blue-green glow that builds up on tall points, such as ship masts and clifftops. This form resembles a spreading phosphorescent fungi at a distance, and often presages lightning strikes.

Tan-Noz appears in large quantities where Bag Noz anchor, the magical fire lingering for years.

Envorad who carry lights are illuminated by Tan-Noz, which manifests more readily than the rest of their form.
