Demographics

- Poitiers was a major city of The Remusan Empire , sporting numerous amphitheaters, baths and villas, serviced by three massive arched aqueducts. The area marked a contentious struggle between the earlier followers of the Southern Church and the indigenous religions, resulting in numerous holy sites dedicated to the Faithful martyrs
- When the Empire fell, the city was sacked, falling to northern invaders. The town's strategic and defensive location proved invaluable, leading to its prosperity. The Counts and later Dukes of Aquitania fortified the city and created numerous public structures. The Church similarly built up the area as a regional center, earning the city one of its nicknames.
