Personal history
Following the blemishment of King Louis Blindeye, the Kingdom of Arle fell into a period of magical and civil unrest, falling under a cloak of perpetual twilight, plagued by various supernatural calamities and political strife. The Kingdom, still nominally under the reign of the Blind King, became a chaotic soup of petty kingdoms, rebellious fiefdoms and independent warlords, each carving out their own territories in an ever-shifting web of alliances, betrayals, establishments and destruction. Into this chaos arrived the Tuatha lord Fintan, an arkanist working for the merchants of the Cloth Cities who had been terrorizing the city, actually a secret member of the cabal herself.
Exposing the benefits of the Arkane, Fintan and Caoineadh recruited more to their cause through an arsenal of promises, threats and violence, quashing those who stood against them and their practices. Fintan's charismatic demeanor and his partner's darker skillset allowed him to rise in prominence, becoming a regional figure. Claiming that through the Arkane, he would end the Curse of Louis Blindeye and restore Arle, he gained a cult-like following among even the non-magical, becoming a powerful player in regional politics.

Motivation
Fintan is a champion of the Arkane, believing it is the natural right of the magically gifted to rule over those without power. That is not to say he is a champion of all Boermerzh or arkanists, using those he deems unworthy as slaves, foot-soldiers or other "expendable" positions without concern for individual well-being. His goals are the furtherance of the Arkane itself, at the cost of any lives that allow him to obtain this without a second thought.

Lord Fintan is a long-time business partner of Patav Lourdaud, AKA Gourmand, the crime lord of Gwitreg. Patav's gang, the Brabançons scour the alleyways and docks of the cities of Breizh in search of magically gifted Boermerzh or hybrid Milliget in press gangs, sending them to Arle for Fintan's uses. In exchange, Arle provides the gang with skilled Arkanists and assassins.

Lord Fintan is known throughout Arle and Gallia as a well-spoken nobleman, an expert dedicated to the pursuits of knowledge and magical esoterica. His calm attitude and seemingly supernatural abilities of perception have gained him a loyal following in Arle and beyond, and the reputation of scholar and courtier.
Wealth & Financial state
A member of the influential faction of Arled Arkanists, Fintan has used his position to obtain a small fortune, controlling the trade of commodities in and out of Arle. His coffers are filled even further with the network of mercenaries he oversees, offering the services of arkanists for any client, no questions asked, in exchange for sizeable compensation. This network has allowed him a great amount of influence outside his small fiefdom.
