Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Philippe remained fit, an active hunter and sportsman until his death.
Mental characteristics
Gender Identity
Cisgender Male.
Sexuality
Philippe remained emotionless, fulfilling his role as king to father a child out of pure obligation. He was notoriously harsh in his punishment of adulterers.
Education
Philippe was educated by the Royal Grand Almoner, a bishop in the Southern Church.
Employment
The heir apparent, Phillipe's older brother Louis, was poisoned, paving the way for Philippe to ascend the throne. Philippe would marry a noblewoman, becoming as a result, the King of Navarre and Count of Champagne, in addition to remaining the Crown Prince of Gallia. Champagne proved a sizable asset, doubling the size of Gallia and giving it access to the plentiful resources of the agricultural region. A short time later, his father died of dysentery following a failed crusade in Iberia, and Philippe was crowned King of Gallia.
Shortly into his reign, Philippe drew into war with the Kingdom of Logres, whose ruler was at the time also Duke of Aquitainia, a vassal to Gallia. Gallia also brutally crushed a revolt by the Cloth Cities, adding them to the royal domain with a harsh treaty.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Philippe is credited with modernizing Gallia, making it into the political powerhouse it is today, expanding its territory and centralizing power. His infamous purges in the Black Crown Affair. decisively eliminated his political enemies and allowed him to dramatically remake the power of Bedouar.
Failures & Embarrassments
Early humiliations martially (several early and key defeats in the ultimately successful campaign against the Cloth Cities) and politically (having to take refuge from rioters with the Urzh Kroashent) angered the monarch with grudges he never forgave.
The Nesle Tower Scandal humiliated him further, starting the events leading to his eventual downfall.
Mental Trauma
Under the influence of the cursed Black Crown, Philippe's mental state deteriorated as his reign drew on, leading to paranoia and delusions.
Intellectual Characteristics
The King had a reputation for remaining emotionless and distant at all times, even during the more horrific events of the Black Crown Affair. Behind the statue-like expression, he was prone to jealousy, paranoia and total lack of empathy.
Morality & Philosophy
Utterly amoral, Philippe dedicated all his energy towards the consolidation of his power and the destruction of his enemies for real or perceived slights.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Philippe's reign was marked by a single, driving goal: Strengthening the Gallian Monarchy at all costs. This led to a distancing of Gallian monarchs from their nobility to a higher reliance on ministers, the seizure of fiefs directly into the Gallian Crownlands and the destruction of the Urzh Kroashent (Knights of the Crossroads) and expulsion of minority groups.
Social
Religious Views
Saw the Church as another political rival to be manipulated, and himself as a divine ruler, perhaps even the Avatar of Mithras as he became more engrossed in his own fiction. Claims of heresy and blasphemy were favourite tools of his against political opponents.
