Personal history

The son of Waroch I, King of Gwened, Chanoa conspired with his three brothers to depose their father. Celebrating the coup, Chanao poisoned his brothers, with only Macliau, Bishop of Gwened, escaping. Macliau conspired with Conomor the Cursed, then King of Poher and Roc'han, escaping his brother's assassins. Waroch, having fled Gwened as well, seized control from his son and imprisoned Chanao in Gwened. When the Sea Dogs, Conomor's pirate fleet, sacked Gwened, Chanao was found in prison and dragged before the Black Dog. Conomor, in a cruel parallel to Macliau's escape, buried the fallen King alive, then decapitated his corpse.
