The Spectre

None have seen The Spectre since the Sunder.
  • Historians reflect on the mystery of the Spectre.
  • The Spectre is a rather mysterious figure. One of the first inquisitors. The Spectre was disillusioned after a series of missions that made them question the morality of the group. The Spectre spoke out against the inquisitors and was disgraced from their ranks, they promised themselves they would not allow another war on magic to tear apart Alturis and joined the Aist state of Freyfrost for a time before moving on.   The spectre became isolated at this point and refused to stay with one side for long. They began to hoard books and knowledge in their flying mansion, many mages have attempted to find the spectre in the hope the mysterious mage would take them on as their apprentice.   No one knows what the Spectre looks like as they have slowly perfected a style of magic known as 'Masked Magicka' though many believe them to be deeply scarred beneath the mask after an accident during Inquisitor training. They possess several white china masks that they draw on to give them unique magical skills.   The party were hired by Lyren Killian to track down the Spectre's flying mansion which Lyren seems to believe lies in the mammoth peaks.   Thordak has since learned that the Spectre is known as the '4th Archinquisitor' on records and was actually a member of the inquisitor adventuring party alongside Xan Prayerkeep, Nirya Moonbrook and Grumph Fellblade that worked together to hunt mages, though The Spectre is since regarded as a traitor and enemy.   Upon meeting the Spectre in The Mammoth Peaks the party learned they were deeply isolated and awkward, struggling to hold company and having an imperious realism about them that unnerved and reassured the party in equal measure.   It took the party a day with them before they learned that The Spectre had actually died many years ago in the cold and ice as Ez had a vision of him (as the End) claiming the Spectre's life, however, when they tried to confront the Spectre with this information, the Spectre revealed that the End offered them the chance to lose their life but remain as a ghost... when Ez spoke to the Spectre about this, they claimed the End was the 'kindest creature in the world'.
