Stick Forests

Thin but sturdy trees that tower above those traveling through the forests of Ollurve

Tall thin towers sticking far above the denizens that live below. A thick cover of leaves creates a ceiling above the forests about seventy to eighty feet above ground level.. This usually blocks most forms of weather from falling down into the ground below the leaf cover. These forests characteristically lack branches on the tree until about sixty feet up the tree. These forests can only be found in Ollurve.

Geography

These forests grow on flatlands. This means there is a lack of notable landmarks in most of these forests, meaning it is quite easy to get lost in these forests. The most common landmark areas of these forests would be random rock outcroppings and possible ponds or rivers that would run through them.. The incredibly thick leaf cover makes the interior of these forests quite dark and difficult to navigate.

Fauna & Flora

Flora

The most unique flora that grows in the Stick Forests are the Stick Trees. These trees are thin pole like trees that can grow anywhere from seventy to eighty feet tall. They don't grow branches below the sixty feet level. This gives a unique look to these forests, as looking off into the darkness one can see levels of trees standing solemnly before fading into the eventual darkness caused by the leaf cover.

Fauna

Most creatures that live within Stick Forests have developed some form of innate ability to see or traverse through dim to dark lighting levels. There are some unique creatures that do call the Stick Forests home. One of which is the Giant Daddy Long Legs. This creature is capable of growing all the way to fifty feet tall. Despite regular sized Daddy Long Legs being not dangerous to humanoids the Giant version is incredibly dangerous. It has a nasty venom that is capable of killing most of its prey within minutes. The legs of the Long Leg are decently thick and have a spear like point capable of skewering prey below it. Often times the legs blending into the scenery of the Stick Trees in the distance.

Natural Resources

The most prominent resource to be found from these forests is naturally wood. These thin trees often are used for more smaller projects. Not often thick enough to make building planks out of. The wood is a much lighter wood which is often used in wood working projects and occasional weaponry like spear, axe or hammer handles. It is not the most sturdy wood and is used more for its decorative and eye-catching quality. The basic guards of towns and villages among Ollurve often armed with weapons utilizing Stick Tree wood.
Don't let the unique and beautiful sights of the Stick Forests deceive you. I've seen many adventurers travel into the forest without any preparation. Not aware of how vast and confusing they can be often getting lost and succumbing to some form of death. I'm not all that sure what's worse, starvation or the fangs of the creatures within...
