King Novellus Iren De'Run
Referred to as one of the greatest adventurers to have lived, Novellus was the son of a traveling Merchant within the region of Charn in the West. At the age of 23 Novellus knew there was more to see within Altheria. He had spent his life traveling with his father all over the West but his true interest were the wild lands and mysteries that existed beyond the borders of the West regions. He began spreading his message all over the Western regions claiming he would be delving into the wild lands in search of glory and adventure. At the young age of 24 in the year 56 F.A. Novellus would lead a group of around two hundred people beyond the Western Borders and into the wild lands and into an area that would eventually become known as Eastern Altheria.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
He was fit and lean, and had a very generic body type. He was also quite healthy in his life, never contracting a serious illness or disease. Outside of his maroon hair Novellus would generally blend in with a crowd.
Body Features
He had pale skin with a few moles sprinkled around his body. One of his most notable features is a compass that is tattooed on his right shoulder, he had this done to symbolize his love of exploration.
Facial Features
Novellus had a rugged face, it was more rectangular than round. It was also complimented by a strong jaw line and chin.

He has two unique features used to identify him. His spikey maroon hair along with a compass that is tattooed onto his right shoulder
Physical quirks
Contrary to the popular belief of him being right handed, Novellus was actually ambidextrous. Favoring his right hand when using walking sticks or eating, but using his left hand when welding a sword

Despite the popular belief Novellus was just like 60% of the population and didn't have any magical abilities
Apparel & Accessories
As a child Novellus was mainly dressed in rags by his dad. This way his dad could sell items at higher prices by tricking customers into thinking Novellus was a starving miserable child. Eventually as he aged he was allowed to wear nicer clothes. Trading his rags in for work boots, dark brown farming pants and a black and maroon tunic.
Specialized Equipment
Always wore light weight leather armor as it was easier for him to travel in. Always traveled with a Charn steel sword to as a memento to his birth region. He also carried a short dagger forged of Obsidian to use in more close combat situations. Novellus' most unique item is his Enchanted Amulet. The Amulet of Dr' Thal, is an amulet thats magic makes the amulet warmer whenever they are facing and get close to what the wearers heart desires most. It is a golden amulet with chain that has a black speckled emerald in the middle.

Personal history
Born from a prostitute and traveling Merchant Novellus was never exposed to great role models in his life. His mother didn't want anything to do with him, his dad did his best to balance providing for them and spending time with Novellus. Novellus was never one to have a consistent life as he always traveled from village to village, region to region. If he did take one thing away from all the traveling it was his exposure to all kinds of creatures, environments and life. He became enamored with how different and unique Altheria was, he found everyone he met to be interesting because they had their own unique life. All this eventually became the framework for his most famous adventure.
Gender Identity
Novellus identified as a heterosexual male who didn't care about species or ethnicity. He enjoyed people for their life stories and experiences.
Sexuality
While many would say Novellus had above average looks he wasn't particularly interested in dating in his early life. He began to date around the age of 45 and he dated many different species, Humans, Dwarf, Elves, Halflings and even an Orc. He would eventually marry a Human woman at the age of 53 and they would go on to continue one of the most respected bloodlines in the East
Education
Novellus was extremely well taught in the arts of Bartering as well as Topography. Years of traveling with his father bestowed these unique skills upon him, he was also sufficient in combat. He was able to hold his own against most bandits.
Accomplishments & Achievements
The greatest and most obvious achievement is his founding of the first East Region originally called Thraux. But the public eventually asked him to change it to Novius Novius in his honor. Novellus also helped organize the first ever Magus Tournament, a festival in which each region sent its best mages to compete against each other in fights and events. His last major achievement was his diplomatic conversation with Western leaders to decide where the boundaries between the East and West would be.
Failures & Embarrassments
Many of the detractors of Novellus bring up his enchanted amulet. The amulet is known to get warmer when you're facing the direction of what your heart desires most. This leads people to believe the amulet guided him through the wild lands of the East.
Novellus was also responsible for the deaths of 20 people during the expedition. He led them into a swamp area now known as The Black Marsh that was teeming with wild creature they had never encountered before. The 200 people were all split up due to panic and foreign terrain. Eventually around 180 of them reunited over the course of a few days and the group continued forward. These 20 lost people eventually became referred to as "The Forgotten."
Mental Trauma
Novellus never completely got over "The Forgotten." He became obsessed with trying to find them. He lead many expeditions further into The Black Marsh but none of them yielded significant results.
Morality & Philosophy
Many considered Novellus a model citizens, he abided by the laws and a personal Moral code focused on respect and equality. He believed everyone had a unique and interesting story and that they shouldn't be punished strictly based on their origins.

Motivation
Novellus knew there was more to life than the six western regions. After years of traveling through the same regions and terrain he desired something more. This lead him on his exploration into the East where he desired to see new creatures, landscapes and magic.

Novellus always had a knack of his directions, he could look in any direction and tell if it was North, South, East or West.
Novellus was actually rather inept at combat. His most notable victories came against common bandits.
Likes & Dislikes
Novellus thoroughly enjoyed nature preferring to sleep outside in tents or camps instead of buildings. Novellus absolutely hated staying in cities for extended periods of time. He felt closed in and disliked all the noises.

Novellus was ambidextrous and also firmly believed that all intelligent species within Altheria are equal. No matter what color, shape, size or magical prowess they have.

Commonly relied on others during more intense combat. His explorative nature often times would lead his groups off the designated path, leading them into trouble or delaying expeditions.

Being an explorer Novellus had zero issues with trudging through muddy water and swamps. He always viewed getting dirty as part of the fun

Contacts & Relations
While Novellus had many relationships he eventually married a human woman named Jesseliah Morent. Jesseliah and Novellus had two sons and a daughter. Towards the later part of his life Novellus founded and funded and Explorers guild in the capitol of Novius.
Family Ties
Novellus had a wife and an undisclosed amount of kids. He kept his kids away from the spotlight of royalty and secretly enrolled them in various public schools in Melthorne. He did this with the intention of giving them a regular life growing up, while secretly teaching his eldest how to lead and rule. His wife name is Jesseliah Morent and was a member of the original exploration East. Novellus is believed to currently have three direct living descendants, Jule De'Run, the eldest and a top court advisor to the king. Vinly De'Run who is the eldest male, he is currently the King of Novius, ruling in the same place his great ancestor did so long ago. Lastly is Arthin De'Run the youngest he eventually left the castle to join the Explorers guild.
Social Aptitude
Novellus proved to be a very charismatic and caring leader. He capably led two hundred people for a large majority of the exploration and proved his loyalty to his followers by leading eight other explorations back into "The Black Marsh" in an attempt to find the twenty missing travelers. He became well liked and respected but his followers for how equally he treated all species.
Hobbies & Pets
His main hobby was exploring and going for walks in nature. It was common for him to disappear from the castle in the later parts of his life to go for walks outside the city. It was rumored that he would've much rather been more involved with the Explorers guild instead of being the king of the region.
Wealth & Financial state
Novellus was quite poor as a kid, having travelled all across the West as an assistant to his merchant father. They never were considered wealthy by any standards. Novellus didn't wear real clothes until he was fifteen years old and had to ditch the rags he had commonly dressed himself with. Many believed that once he was voted to become the king of the Novius he became vastly wealthy but this wasn't true. His wealth did increase throughout his time as king, but he was ruling a completely new region that was in the process of being founded and settled. Novius is a much wealthier region now than it ever was during Novellus' rule. While he was king he did use his wealth to establish public buildings in the capitol city of Melthorne. He preferred to dress his family more elegantly than himself, he commonly wore his exploration clothes as he felt his royal wear wasn't well suited for his hobby of exploring outside the city.
