The Lighthouse of Iliam

Before The Turbulence happened and dried The Old Sea, the lighthouse which was situated on a large island called Iliam was a sight to behold. The stone which was used in its construction was rare, almost translucent marble from the island of Edamynera , shipped all the way to the biggest island of The Maiden's Belt archipelago, when it still used to continue almost all around the continent of Astaros. Every day in dawn and dusk, when the light of the sun hit just right, it looked like the whole building would have been on fire, shining brightly in the hues of sunset or sunrise. The rare marble from Edamynera also had another property; all the light of the sun soaked in during the daytime, and in nighttime it would produce an eerie purple glow which guided the ships at night.

Sadly, when the magical storm wiped over the Old Sea area, the lighthouse of Iliam was destroyed in all the aftermath and its whereabouts forgotten. Some travelers in the deep velvet nights of the now desert Old Sea area swear that they've seen some distant dunes glowing in purple, but when investigated, have been found out to be only normal dunes without any glow. Was it just an illusion, a lingering memory imprinted in the fabric of time and space, or something complete mundane like sand sardines mating... who knows, really? But the legend of The Lighthouse persists.

It is said to be a good omen, if you see the purple glow in the night when you are lost in the dark of the night in the vast and unforgiving desert of the Old Sea, as the glow will guide you home. But if you are not lost and see the glow, you should run, as it will guide you astray, even beyond its own ruin.
