Blue Moss

The Blue moss is a common ingredient in many health potions and ointments and thus often sought after by druids and healers.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

it grows in small soft bundles that give out a soft blue glow in the dark, hence the name blue moss.

Ecology and Habitats

The blue moss thrives in moist and dark places like caves and old abandoned mining tunnels. Sometimes it can be encountered living in shady swamps, mangrove forests and more rarely, near waterfront.

Additional Information

Domestication

The blue moss is very difficult to farm on a commercial level, and only slightly easier to get to grow on a smaller scale. It is not known why, but many have tried and only few have succeeded. Although, growing blue moss has generally been thought to be too difficult and not worth the hassle, so it's often just harvested in wild as it is easier. Some tribes of The Wood Elves have druids that have dedicated their life to conserve and tend to the areas where the blue moss grows. Some are also known to spread the blue moss in new habitats, but how they get the blue moss to take root and thrive, is a well-guarded sacred secret of the wild tribes and not known to the public.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

There are several subspecies of regional subspecies of the moss, but they all are used in the same way and have similar properties. The varieties have little differences only known to the ones truly dedicated to the art of botany.

Very interesting moss I love how you made it harder to grow than finding the wild. Even though it's so useful

Interesting that it is nearly the same wherever it is found.
