Circle of the Mountains
The Circle of the Mountains
Druids are known for being a strange folk to begin with by many outsiders. The ways of nature and living in harmony with it can seem alien to the researched scholar or the city dwelling citizen. The Ocean circle tends to be fickle like the waves of the sea, and the Forest Circle seeks balance in all life, but the Mountain Circle is known for their stalwartness. Change is not something that comes easy for them, because the mountains do not change. Why should they?Locations:
Mountain Druids are united under their Archdruid no matter the part of the world they are found in. The current Archdruid, a Goliath named Thalok Hardstalker Vathunukane (Archdruid Vathunukane for short), resides in the mountains surrounding the Gorlan pass.- Veno Mountains - Surrounding the Gorlan Pass, the Veno Druids are the most identifiable of the Mountain Druids. They host Archdruid Vath regularly and revere their home as older than the human kingdom of Redmont.
- Middoryn Mountains - Home to the Dwarven Kingdom of the same name, the Mountain Druids of these mountains are made up primarily of Dwarves, Goliaths, and a few Ravenfolk. Generally gentler and kinder than the Veno Druids, Middoryn Druids nevertheless honor their Archdruid and refused to join the Circle of Unity.
- Anasase Mountains - The Druids of these mountians have cut off all contact from the rest of the world. All non-Dwarves were expelled.
- Chuluu Mountains - The mountains that face outward toward Aelerzodye from the original Tiefling lands, the Chuluu Druids hide a furious temper underneath their stoic demeaner. Mostly Tieflings, but a few Gnomes and Humans
Problems with the Circle of Unity
When the meeting to discuss a joining of the Druidic circles was first called, Archdruid Vathunukane came with hopes of being appointed the Druidic King. When the Sea and Plains circles backed Iris, Vath threatened to end the discussion then and there. He had always had contrarian opinions to Aldur, the predecesor to Iris, and refused to bow the knee to a Forest Druid. Even when confronted by the Circle of Dreams about his reasoning, Vath refused to backdown and withdrew from the proceedings. The Mountain Encounter
Archdruid Vathunukane and the Mountain Druids had gone completely silent since the Circle of Unity was formed. In the first month of the year 1010 A.Z., the Mountain Druids began attacking Refugees, Settlers, and Caravans that traveled along the Gorlan Pass. In the fourth month, Sham's Rising, a group of adventurers were assigned to resolve the issues with the Circle of the Mountains by the Redmont Ranger crops. Sylori Navakat, Farben the wizard, Farrig Stonebranch, and Reck worked together to resolve the issues. Farrig sacrificed himself to elimate the Dark Spirit's influence on Archdruid Vathunukane, freeing him from the dark advisors that had encouraged him in rebellion. The Mountain Druids began to restructure and hunt down the adviors that a creature known as Zushu had sent to the various Mountain Druid tribes.Stalwart as the Mountains, Fierce as an Avalanche
