Iapetus (ai · aa · puh · tuhs)

NSV Iapetus is a ship in her middle age. She's gone through two major and several minor refits to keep her systems up to modern standards. Gravity can be a little finicky aboard her, and she makes an off-key humming sound when she exceeds Warp 12. Despite - or perhaps because of! - this, her crew insists that she's the finest ship in the fleet. Sure, she needs a little TLC every now and again - and maybe a kick when boots start floating off the floor - but any ship closing in on a half-century of age has her quirks, and the crew members assigned to the flagship of Admiral John "Johnny Storm" Stromberg wouldn't have any other flag officer to serve under.
Even though Iapetus is a command cruiser and not a first-line brawler, her electronic scramblers, EMP warheads and nuclear missiles are more than enough to make up for her relative lack of high-powered beam or massdriver weapons.
Her newly-minted admiral, who was previously her captain, is Winona Gray. Gray has a real "give 'em Hell" attitude. She has the respect and love of the entire ship, as the commanding officer who's flown them through the last three years.

Power Generation

Two redundant fusion powerplants carrying two Spitzer-Wheeler stellarator tokomak reactors in an X-link configuration. Any two of the four stellarators is sufficient to supply the full power load of the ship, providing her with ample redundancies; her drives and electronics can be fully supplied by one.
