Unlike other venthirs, Thane's mutation made him a Sharthir, an incredibly rare strand of the venthir mutation which allows him to attune himself deeper with the shadow weave, a condition which makes him incredibly unique. He is also a shadow sorcerer, with a strong connection to the shadow weave.

Personal history

Thane's life before he turned six is completely unknown, what is known however, is that he was indoctrinated into the Church of Night, a cult dedicated to the goddess Nyxia. He was indoctrinated and trained by the Church to become a Night Crusader to protect their hideout in the Mad House on the plane of Pandemonium under the guidance of Mistress Sybille. During this training, he was punished for every mistake, and tortured into obedience whenever he doubted their teachings. His time with the Church made Thane turn to flagellation to compose himself. He also became very protective for the younger apprentices at the Night Cistern, often taking the punishment for their mistakes.
When Thane was 15, The Night Cistern was attacked and slaughtered by Illidan Windsor, Oliver Reyes, and Yaxora Tayker. Thane and the other apprentices were spared and brought out of Pandemonium and taken to the Venthirs of Durveina at Fylhalon. There they were taken in as younglings by the venthirs, and Thane found himself as the youngling of Corwyn who would spend the next years helping him cope with what he had been through and train him to manifest his sorcerer abilities and his physical skills to go through the Rebirth to become a venthir. He gained much respect for Corwyn who he truly came to trust like family, and with his training, he would survive the Rebirth and gain the Lynx echo ring.
