The Warriors of the Purifying Blade

One of the most influential organizations in the history of Aloran, the Warriors of the Purifying Blade ushered in the Silent Age, an era of persecution and fear against all things magic. They are partly responsible for the fall of the Tal Moorell, the extinction and endangerment of several magical species, and the loss of knowledge throughout Aloran.

Structure

The Purifying Blade is led by a single person deemed Grand Purifier. Directly beneath them are the Seekers. Seekers are in charge of a set territory and can have anywhere between 1000-60,000 people that report directly to them. Below them are Captains and then Blades which is the standard basic member.

Public Agenda

The goal is the eradication of all magic and any who pursue magic.

History

None of the scholars can agree to how the Purifying Blade started. Some claim they were cultist bent of the destruction of the Tal Moorell. Others say they were originally righteous farmers who could not stand any further injustice. The only thing they all can agree on is that somewhere along the way they became darker.   The first record of the Warriors of the Purifying Blade is in the city of Unitas. It was during the trial of Meryl Spard, a novice magic user that unintentionally caused an explosion that destroyed half of the school she was in which killed many children and teachers but left her intact. The Tal Moorell stepped in and got her to be declared innocent and taken into their protective custody. Once the word was out that she was declared innocent The Warriors of the Purifying Blade started a large riot throughout the city. Rioters caught Meryl Spard and the Tal Moorell members escorting her before they could leave the city and slaughtered them in the city square. After this small chapters of the Purifying Blade began appearing in cities all over Aloran conducting hate crimes against magic users and in some cases outright murdering them. More and more people began to flock to their banner but it wasn't until the Tarrovill Incident that governments began to ally themselves with the Purifying Blade. Then the Purifying Blade conquered the Salorun Monastery and turned it into a city of their own. After that battles sprung up all over the Aloran, but primarily in Norell, between the Tal Moorell and the Purifying Blade. It took roughly 15 warriors to take down a member of the Tal Moorell but for every Blade that was killed 5 more people joined their ranks. Eventually, it reached the point where waves upon waves of warriors of the Purifying Blade marched upon the shores of the headquarters of the Tal Moorell. After 3 days the Tal Moorell and the headquarters, the Cristallin Forum, were no more.   Using the momentum of their victory over the Tal Moorell, The Purifying Blade began to target independent magic users and establish forts called "embassies" in every major city they could to secure their power of the cities of Aloran. Blades wandered the world executing all that was believed to be connected to magic. Roughly 1000 years into the Silent Age, as public opinion began to decline, the city of Arcania was discovered. The Purifying Blade began blaming all the disasters, both natural and not, on the fact that Arcania existed and attempted to conquer the city. Fortunately for the magic users, over the course of roughly 1000 years, the Purifying Blade was unable to get a single warrior in the city.   Near the end of the Silent Age, three Questers known as the Helar Brothers successful assassinated the Grand Purifier. This caused internal conflict between the various Seekers over who will become the next Grand Purifier. Eventually, this turned into a complete civil war within the ranks of the Purifying Blade. During this time many of the people who had been oppressed by the Purifying Blade, of which there were many, took control of their "embassies" and kicked them out. Now in the Fabled Age, the Purifying Blade has a greatly reduced presence. From time to time they attempt attacks or other acts but they hold only a fraction of the power that they once held and are unwanted practically everywhere.
