Personal history

Gorold comes from a world caught in an eternal war. No one knows how it started or if there are any actual sides now. All people know is the other side must die. In an effort to end the stalemate and give their side the advantage, the God's of the Avers got together and created a spell to put the head god of the Savans, Selyvor the god of knowledge and creator of the world, into a magical slumber that only he had the knowledge to fix. As the Savans began to fall Selyvor dreamt about a God who saved him and his people. Out of those dreams came Gorold. The newly born god helped fight of the Avers and restored Selyvor. After the battle Gorold, having no ties to the eternal conflict, left that world in search of one to call home.   The Lunar Gods eventually found him wandering aimlessly and invited him to Aloran. He found the dreams of the mortals of Aloran to be intriguing and watched in horror as endless Nightmares feasted on them. He built the Dream Wilds as a place for the dreams to grow and flourish and for him to fight the nightmares. Those who die in their sleep or fall into comas come to serve him as Sleep Keepers who defend dreamers from nightmares. In the Material Plane, Gorold placed the stars in the night sky and taught mortals to tell stories of all kinds.   Throughout the Divine Age, Gorold cultivated entire civilizations into storytellers and navigators that could read the stars as they traveled. He had amassed a mighty army of souls to aid in his fight against The Nightmares. When the The Confluence struck, Gorold was the first of the Gods to come to the mortal's aid. During the Death of Calora, he suffered the great injury attempting to keep Irasil at bay so that The Tal Moorell and the other Gods might have time to find a way to defeat him. His injuries caused him to lose a vast amount of his power as well as his instrument, The Dreamscythe. As the world began again the number of Gorold's followers began to dwindle more and more because of the power he lost. Now Gorold and the things he has done are remembered by a small number of faithful followers that pass his stories and beliefs from generation to generation.
