Session 5 Recap
General Summary
Having previously enjoyed the rowdy environment of the Tipsy Wreck, our "Heroes" take a peaceful stroll along the docks. A heavy storm buffets and blows, chilling rain bites at their face, and the roar of thunder deafens them to the world. El'Rin, unprepared for such a storm, slips, losing his footing, he tumbles into the brine, never to be seen again?
Moving forward, unphased by their loss, the party approaches "The Flying Jack", Sal Maclennane and J'Zargo notice the flicker of a light within the captains cabin, they decide to approach.
What happens next can only be described as slapstick. Captain Jackie has a guest, clearly looking to sell some familiar looking stolen goods, This fact, and the seller himself, is for a moment concealed to certain members of the party for no real reason at all.
J'Zargo convinces Jackie that the golden tiger statue is part of a set, the thief agrees and says she should pay more. Dok realizes the thief is their thief, Some people arent sure if there is a captain or a thief or both, Maybe neither?
Not having anything worth selling to Jackie, the party leaves, before the sudden realization hits, That's the thief they're after. They re-enter the captain cabin and announce they are hunting that thief. Jackie, annoyed at the whole situation, shoots the thief in the leg, offers him and all the stolen goods bar the golden statue, and a small sum of money as "Evidence". The thief objects and says he'll spill Jackies secrets, but who are the courts going to believe? A thief, or 4 upstanding members of society that would never take a bribe?
They take the, now unconscious thief (with broken fingers) back to The Plothole to keep him locked up until they can hand him over the Pathfinders Society.
Suddenly the tavern door opens, and an elderly woman steps in. She needs help, her husband was kidnapped by a strange cult last night. The party wonders why she came to them, apparently they where on "The nice list"
The obvious theme flies over Ursus Metallicus head like Santas Sleigh flies above building.
When the party eventually take the job, she offers them a lift to their workshop, on the back of Rudolph, her Gargantuan dragon, there is no red nose, only flames to light the way.
Rudolph has a yurt on his back, the door of the structure is in fact a portal to an icy land.
The party sees a devastated landscape, The workshop is damaged, burning in places, and the fields are littered with the decimated remains of tens of thousands of Helper elves. Most of which still live, even if they have been decapitated, obliterated, destroyed, tortured and melted. They seem happy regardless, and tasty as J'Zargo finds out.
It turns out that the deity Norgorber has sent cultists to abduct this ladies husband, and somehow they intend to steal his power. Ursus Metallicus inquires as to where they went, somehow not noticing the giant mountain surrounded by the "corpses" of helper elves and tipped with a menacing dark storm.
Dok manages to rally a hundred or more helper elves to aid in saving the husband. Only two arrive at a cave entrance in the mountain.
El'Rin is being thrown around by the dark storm above somehow?
Within the cave a trio of cultists guard a portal made of black ice, one of them has spells, J'Zargo gets hit, misses and regrets many choices in life.
But the party emerges triumphant and proceeds through the portal.
On the otherside they find a corrupted, black ice filled version of the world they just left, the workshop has been fragmented and re-arranged. The "corpses" of the helper elves cry out in misery and suffering.
Will our party muster up the strength they need to be heroes? Find out in Session 6
