Warden of the Hollow
As members of The Order of the Glowing Dawn, they serve Amberfall and all of its citizens. This esteemed rank and title are given to sixteen people who fulfill a lifetime of service guarding The Hollow and its prisoners. Cultural fame and high honor are what drives some to strive for this position. Giving up all worldly possessions and serving for life is not something everyone can do, so those that can are held in high regard. The Archwarrior of The Glowing Dawn, who sits on the council of Amberfall appoints Wardens personally, in addition, their names are written in history books and sung by bards across the city.
Qualifications
Wardens are chosen based on their ability to remove personal bias from morally grey decisions. They act dutifully no matter the order. They believe wholeheartedly in The Glowing Dawn, and are willing to sacrifice a life of luxury for a life of duty and honor.
Requirements
Any recruit going through basic training in the @The Glowing Dawn Barracks has the potential to be a Warden. Race, creed, or age are not considered in choosing new Wardens. There are many types of tests, both physical and mental, that recruits go through during basic training. Commanders of The Glowing Dawn watch each recruit carefully to determine where to put them after they graduate from the barracks. Careful deliberation of a person's dedication to The Dawn as well as their physical abilities are important factors when choosing potential new Wardens.
Appointment
The Archwarrior attends the graduation ceremony of each year's Glowing Dawn basic training. Most graduates are given their ranks and duties by the Commanding Officer during this ceremony. When a new Warden is required, the Archwarrior will personally grant the rank and title to the individual (s) deemed worthy by the Commanders of the barracks in full view of the graduating class. A ceremony specific to this rank is performed. In which the newly titled Warden gives the last of their possessions to the Archwarrior, and in turn are given their required outfit and weapons.
Duties
Wardens of the Hollow serve The Glowing Dawn and the city of Amberfall for life. They forsake any and all worldly possessions and the parent no children. They act as bailiffs to the court of Amberfall. If a criminal is sentenced to life in The Hollow, Wardens escort them safely and dutifully there. Wardens also maintain the integrity of the few entrances down into The Hollow, as well as alerting the Quarrymen Guild, or other related guilds, of any irregularities in the walls of The Hollow.
Benefits
Historically Wardens of the Hollow were held in high esteem by the people of Amberfall as the "people willing to do what others couldn't." While not able to keep worldly possessions, Wardens would partake in local taverns, whoring, and sporting activities during downtime.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Wardens dress in classical Amberfaene tunics of amber and gold stitching, with a standard of two gold links intertwined over a red field embroidered on the breast. Boiled leather armor, boots, and gloves of similar colors as well as a shortsword with a pure Amber shard as the pommel.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
The only way to be removed from this rank is death. If you voluntarily leave your duties with the intent of no longer being a Warden of the Hollow, you are brought before the city and executed.
