Castle Mena'Thor
Early in the Southern Conquest of Humans, a castle was built in the farthest reaches of the continent of Lothlonde. Set deep within the Orc faction territory, the humans established a rudimentary base to set up a slight supply line to Arrlonde in the northeast. They held this area for decades, the Orcs seemingly did not know or did not care enough to take back the land.
The initial conquest was lead by Menas Thornmail. A human knight with a robust history of leading the humans to victories in the south against orcs, trolls, firbolgs, and goblins. The castle was completed after his death and named after him. The militia installed in the castle and the surrounding quarry were still being lead by Menas' strict military guide. The overall purpose of the castle was to be one of the first permanent settlements into the orc territory. The castle lasted in human hands until shortly before The Peace.
Years before The Peace a goblin army ordered by the Warchief Shorn to take the Castle Mena'Thor and the surrounding area marched to battle. Weeks of skirmishes lead to a siege, with the human army retreating to the inner walls of the castle being overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of the goblin army. Goblins being the crafty race they are, they quickly made weapons powerful enough to break the gates to the castle. Having control of a majority of the castle the humans surrendered only to be slaughtered in their own holding cells.
Centuries later, in the current era, the castle is still being held by a group of goblins but has been converted from a military hub to a cultural center for the various goblin races to celebrate their traditions. The goblins have kept the name Mena'Thor because they believe they would not have the current cultural prosperity without Menas and his conquest.
