Campaign 4, Session 15

The heroes head back into Thistlefort, determined to find a magical solution to their water problems.

The heroes headed north. They stopped at Ironspine's, which had seen an influx of new halflings. Speaking with Divram, he explained that he was making a village, and had invited other halfling families to settle here and work the land and the like, as well as be protected. The group was able to note that several homesteads were in the process of being built, as well as defensive walls.   Divram was able to provide them with a safe place to rest, but could not help them with their magical problem. He advised them to head back into Thistlefort and seek out the Violet Fire order and their leader, Illiana Mooncape. They decided to rest there for the night.   16.12.1291   When they woke up in the morning, they found both Clanky and Trudy gone, and a chest in their place wit a note. The note was from Saint Kristoff, explaining that he had taken Clanky and Trudy for a different assignment, and that the chest was filled with gold, a reward for the progress they had achieved so far. The chest was filled with gold bars, all stamped with the insignia of Saint Kristoff. After taking an additional day of rest there, the group headed to the town.   They were able to get into the town with no problem. They first elected to check the Green Forest Inn, which was now flourishing after Christie's investment. They spoke with the owner and confirmed their room was still being held, he served them breakfast and explained that he had built a new suite just to accommodate them. He was able to give them directions to the Violet Fire Tower.   From the inn, they headed into the market, where they witnessed an odd woman being attacked by a group of thugs dressed in black. The group decided to intervene and drive off the thugs, and the woman introduced herself as Mongoose as they all fled back into the wagon to leave before the arrival of the guards. They captured one of the still living thugs and tied him up, hiding him in the wagon. Mongoose explained she was a cleric and tried to give out pamphlets to her goddess, offering to free them of sin. They didn't seem too enthused but after some discussion she agreed to help them on their quest.   The group arrived at the bank next, a branch of the Iron Bank of Brothers, intent on exchanging the chest full of gold into proper coinage. Mongoose went in first and made a big scene, saying she had an account and a million gold was owed to her, eventually the manager, a large wood golem, was called in to mediate. This was a plan to make the teller more likely to want to help a much more willing and nicer customer like Christie. The plan did work, and after Mongoose left, the teller and Christie spoke.   Christie explained that she wanted to change these gold bars for money, but the teller explained that only customers of the bank could use their services. When Christie tried to open an account, she found that she already had an account, and memories came back to her of working in an inn with her mother and father and making deposits. She was able to change out the money then and found her current balance was 50 gold pieces.   While all this was happening, a group of guards went snooping about the wagon. Thankfully, they didn't find the tied up prisoner, and Guiliman was able to convince them to leave. The group then headed to the Violet Fire tower.   At the tower, they eventually gained entry and met with Illiana Mooncape, the head wizard of the order. After describing their problem, she provided them with a set of potions of water breathing. In exchange, she asked for them to keep an eye out for two other wizards of her order who had gone missing in the Spire a few weeks ago.   From there, the group went back to the market, got rid of the body of the ruffian, and did some shopping, before retiring back to the inn.
