Princess Heir

Usually the eldest daughter of the Queen of Alfeari, the Princess Heir is the designated successor to the Throne of Whispers. While this title is considered hereditary, birth order is not a guarantee of earning or keeping the title. It is possible for a sibling or even an adopted child to be made the Princess Heir in place of the eldest daughter.   The designation of a Princess Heir is a matter of creating ideal conditions of a peaceful succession despite the Maneuvering of the nobility. There is often public tension bordering on outright rebellion if a Princess Heir is not designated within a decade of a Queen's ascension to the throne.   The full list of titles for the Princess Heir are as follows:
Heir and Successor to the Queen, Scion of Alfeari, Advocate of the Coral Isles, Custodian of the Far Reaches, Premier of the Shang Wilderness

Appointment

The Princess Heir is designated at her Acknowledgment ceremony. If replacement is required, a modified Acknowledgment ceremony is performed for both the former and the new Princess Heir to designate their new positions.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

If a Princess Heir is found to have characteristics that are flawed, such as narcissism, maliciousness, or even a mental condition that makes them unable to function within the requirements of being Queen, an alternative Princess Heir can be named. Any alternative is usually a younger daughter, though a formal adoption can technically make anyone the Princess Heir.   This is unusual and is either an extreme consequence of a Princess Heir's bad behavior or a mutually agreed upon solution to the discomfort of being born into a position that is a poor fit for the Princess Heir's personality and uniqueness.
