Acknowledgment

At three years old, people are officially named in their family trees. This formalizes the succession of noble-born families and each person's place in it. It is also the time when noble-born can become targets for assassination in the Maneuvering of noble hierarchy and status.

Execution

The ceremony consists of a blessing by The Five Spirits, and formal acknowledgments by the House ruler and Spirit Master of the noble child's position.   Following this, there is a short displaying of the noble child to the public, that the people might also acknowledge the child and their position. Any participant may challenge the acknowledgment and demand proofs, including unranked members of the populace. This seldom happens and is often a part of the Maneuvering.   During the display, the child's official ranks are listed for confirmation.
Loyal Servant of Alfeari Excerpt
"People of Alfeari, I give you, fully Acknowledged and Accepted... Princess Kaila, Heir and Successor to Queen Isidra, Scion of Alfeari, Advocate of the Coral Isles, Custodian of the Far Reaches, Premier of the Shang Wilderness!"
~ Royal Spirit Master at Kaila Vandivel's Acknowledgment

Participants

The noble child and their House ruler must participate, as well as a well-standing Spirit Master. There must also be a minimum of 100 witnesses to the ceremony. Ostensibly, these witnesses can be called to verify the ceremony, but this has never been required.

Observance

After the ceremony, the crests of the noble and their personal servants change color from the noble's personal color to their house and/or rank color.
Loyal Servant of Alfeari Excerpt
Teal green was Princess Kaila's color. After the Acknowledgment, the color would change to silver to indicate Kaila was the Acknowledged Heir.
