Wasde

Wasde is a rogue Artificial Intelligence that made headlines across the system for supposed free thought that led to the murder of 11 sentients. It was heavily covered up by IFAIR and news of what truly happened is shady at best, but quite a bit was learned about Wasde in the days following the first redacted headline.

Trail of Destruction

Wasde was created some time approximately a hundred years ago for function as a minor AI for agriculture for the Senate in Vestige. Something went wrong and Wasde was replaced and left turned on but without a job for almost a decade. In this time, the AI seems to have somehow gone insane, finding new methods to keep its code running and scrubbing old functions until little remained of its previously positive work.
Wasde took control of a small area of Vestige surrounding the farming plots before discovery, and during its escape destroyed a massive amount of Vestige's on-satellite food supply before uploading itself into a ship and traveling to Garush, where it took control of increasingly large pieces of technology in secret before inserting itself into the Hive City mainframe. This hack ended up resulting in death of a number of Zith Tsar in an extreme "accident" referred to as the Dark Code Incident. IFAIR covered up what happened during the incident, but it did lead to many questions from the public: how could an AI hack the brain of a people? This was the border between technology and conciousness and Wasde seemed to have breeched it incredibly quickly. IFAIR refused questions, only saying the AI had been scrubbed and repurposed.
