Spaceships are mobile, advanced vehicles used to travel through the vacuum of space, equipped with technology to sustain the life of a crew within and to perform various functions across the cosmos. Ranging from sleek starfighters built for combat to massive satellite structures, these crafts usually feature integrated propulsion systems, a
Gravitonium core, life support systems, and intricate weaponry and scientific equipment. Many ships are incorporated with high tech
Instability Engines and
shielding in order to access
The Instability and travel at speeds faster than light.
Instabilities
Travel is extremely slow to do through the vacuum of space. The lack of an atmosphere makes engine usage costly and distance between planets and satellites is extremely large and nothing compared to the distance between systems or galaxies. As a result, most use the technological advancement of
The Instability Engine to travel quickly between points.
Instability Engines work by transporting the ship into a forth dimensional space known as
The Instability, how to
Demons and
Devils as well as a place without space, making travel much easier. Because of the lack of space, distance in the Third Dimension does not link with
The Instability at all: traveling one planet over could be just as long or longer of a journey than moving between galaxies.
Tears, holes into the physical plane, make some points much easier to access than others.
Additionally,
The Instability is highly dangerous.
Archdevils have dominion over huge armies and the physical form of the place is incredibly unstable. Ships make use of
Unstable Shields to travel through the realm, high power shielding technology that uses extreme amounts of energy and leaves travelers completely in the dark between locations in
The Instability. That said, this innovation has made
The Instability a ton safer, though prolonged exposure is still not reccomended. Most travelers choose to take numerous short jumps rather than spending longer amounts of time.
Crewing a Ship
Depending on the size of a ship a large crew may be needed to take care of the opperations held within. Usually, smaller crews consist of at least one pilot, captain, first mate, gunner, and engineer for the primary ship positions and some combination of other roles for the life sustaining functions of the ship, such as doctors and cooks.
Most ships work primarily off AI pathing, but travel through
The Instability is almost always done manually because of the requirement of power for
Unstable Shields. As a result, a pilot and at least one other member of the crew is usually required up front at all times, while the rest of the crew may have tasks to perform across the ship. Thanks to the speed of travel, usually no flight takes longer than 24
Earth hours, though some locations that are not close to
Tears may take much longer for safe travel.
